Poor customer service
Submitted Friday, March 4, 2011 - 8:06am [Take-out]

We tried this place on recommendation of a friend. While the food WAS good, I have a few other complaints with my experience:

-they were out of one of the dishes I wanted
-they would not take the Entertainment book coupon: said they are not supposed to be in the book at all
-I had the food on my lap driving home: oil leaked through the bottom of the paper bag and onto my jeans
-the food is costily than at all of the other Indian places I've ever been to
-small portion sizes (except for the samosas)

All in all, we will not go back.

Fantastic Pho
Submitted Thursday, November 25, 2010 - 2:40pm [Dine in]

We have been to many many Pho places and this is our favorite. Like many Vietnamese restaurants, and service is minimal but friendly, and the place looks like it hasn't been updated in about 25 years. HOWEVER, we keep going back because everything we have tried has been fantastic! Amazing Pho (the broth is phenomenal), great spring rolls, the best Vietnamese coffee I've ever had, etc. The prices are also very good. ($6 for two large spring rolls with a pile of rice noodles and a pile of veggies and sauce for example.)

Did not live up to expectations at all :(
Submitted Saturday, September 4, 2010 - 12:42pm [Dine in]

We drove out to Kon Thai from Cloverdale because we love our Thai food and usually trust dinehere.ca reviews. I'm sad to say we were disappointed by the whole experience! Notable issues include:

-2 over charges on the bill that we had to reconcile (double charging for dishes)
-they charge for rice! We ordered many entrees; at most Thai places I've been to they provide some free white rice
-They were unable to make the lettuce wraps I ordered because they were out of the ingredients
-The green curry was yellow? and not very good
-The spring rolls were tiny little things (fine, since you got 8 in a $7 order but not what I'm used to): they tasted of black bean and pastry

On the plus side, prawns were cooked well and the banana ice cream served with dessert was fabulous. Service was also good most of the time (they were quite busy, which may have impacted our service).

All in all, I've had much better as Thai goes and unfortunately will not be back!

Do not recommend

I have been to WAG a few times before, and it was enjoyable. Returned last Saturday and after my experience will not go back again.

-Service: pretty much non-existant, server did not make any small talk and did not seem to enjoy her job at all
-Food: Chicken burger was OK, but had a really weird mix of flavours/sauces going on. Got yam fries instead of normal fries; they were great but I was not warned about the $2.50 extra charge (wasn't listed on the menu either)
-Drinks: Ordered a Coke, got Cola that had no fizz. For a refill ordered Sprite hoped it would be better, nope. Again not name brand and watery/no fizz
-Ambiance: we sat outside in the sun room area. It was HOT in there (of course, it's a sun room). Would sit inside if we had a do-over

Fantastic Food and Great Service!
Submitted Sunday, July 4, 2010 - 10:52am [Dine in]

We visited Thai House last night for the first time, and will definitely be back! The spring rolls were amazing, the chicken skewers were real chicken breast meat, the red curry was super-spicy but delicious, the prawn/veggie/garlic dish full of fresh-chopped veggies and over 10 huge prawns, green curry was great, Pad Thai fantastic...I cannot say enough good things! Service was also very attentive!

Fabulous Thai Food
Submitted Friday, June 4, 2010 - 12:16am [Dine in]

We went here today and had their $7.99 lunch special, which includes Pad Thai, rice, and choice of entree. The Pad Thai was out of this world amazing, fabulous flavours! The red curry chicken dish I chose was great as well: lots of fresh veggies and bamboo in it! We will definitely be returning to try more off their menu! Also, it's very neat that the owner used to cook for the Thai royal family! The food reflects her experience!

Great Thai food!
Submitted Friday, May 14, 2010 - 10:54pm [Dine in]

We went here tonight and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and of the service. Though prices were a little high, we left feeling satisfied and that we had gotten a good value for our money. The spring rolls were Fabulous and piping hot (great sauce served with them!), the free shrimp chips with peanut sauce were a great starter, and our green curry dish was great. Pad Thai was also good; only complaint is that the prawns were overcooked and a bit tough. The banana dessert was Amazing!!! Definitely recommended. Service was friendly and water always replenished. We will definitely go back to this restaurant.

Disappointed
Submitted Thursday, December 31, 2009 - 1:29pm [Dine in]

We stopped in at this little cafe last weekend. We were quickly served at the counter but the good service stopped there. There were many dirty tables in the restaurant and staff seemed too busy to be able to clean them off. While we found a clean one I watched a few families clearing off/cleaning their own tables in order to sit down.

After a looooong wait (considering what we ordered), I was brought the wrong sandwich and a bowl of lukewarm soup (not made in house; I asked). My sandwich was quickly corrected, but disappointing as it only had a smashed egg in it and the toasted bread was very very dry around the edges. My son got the kids burger which was quite good, but they were out of tortilla chips and don't have fries so he had to get salad with his meal instead (we found this out when they brought the food out).

All in all, we won't be back.

Good Pho for a good price
Submitted Tuesday, June 16, 2009 - 12:46pm [Dine in]

We've been to this restaurant a few times now, and it's always been consistently good. We love their spring rolls, and the shredded pork/spring roll plate is delicious. The pork is skewer is good as well, and my boyfriend has had all types of beef Pho and enjoys them all.. They also offer some Japanese dishes which makes our son happy.
Service is lacking like with many Pho places I've been to, but still they are there when you need them.
I have to agree with the comment about cleanliness in the washroom; I noticed a few hairs and stuff on the women's washroom floor and this was first thing this morning: the washroom should've been clean!
Either way, we love Pho and this place delivers! We will go back again.

Good food, poor service
Submitted Monday, March 23, 2009 - 10:53pm [Dine in]

A group of 11 of us went here for dinner last night (they had to put together three tables to fit our party: good thing I made reservations). The place was quite crowded when we got there.
Interesting menu, tonnes of selection. The food was interesting, some of the Chinese dishes had a little too much curry powder for me but was still good. Chow Mein and deep-fried green beans were great. Service was slow: whenever we wanted another drink or napkins of more plum sauce we had to flag a waiter down.
All in all, decent experience but I don't think I'll be back.

Fantastic Food!
Submitted Monday, October 6, 2008 - 6:02pm [Dine in]

We discovered this place two weeks ago and have been back twice already! The food is so flavourful and good: we LOVE the green curry and prawn dish included in the dinner for two ($29, also comes with spring rolls and chicken skewers and rice). The service is always friendly and there's fun Thai decorations all over the place. You have to try this place!
