DOV09

I pretty much agreed with the review below there. My partner and I pretty much enjoyed both of our appies and desserts but not the main course. I had the salmon it was just okay and he had pork and it was way too salty and rich for both of us. He had to drink quite a lot of water. We loved our appetizers: soup and the salmon mosaic. They were really good and interesting. For the desserts, since there were only two kinds so each of us ordered one of each. I loved my ice-cream on my WINE POACHED ANJOU PEAR and he loved his ice-cream and the caramel sauce on his chocolate delice. One more thing that I agree with "YummydansleTummy " is the service part. We thought the service was pretty good from the beginning but later on the night, it was more like they were doing their service job, not outgoing/friendly. Anyhow we both really enjoyed the meal. So far the best appy and dessert compare to other DOV 09 we had. And will go back for special occasions and will recommend to friends.

A group of 5 went for DOV09! Their appetizer salad was somewhat weird, some of us thot it tasted like plastic! But their crab cakes were pretty good, not dry as the ones I've tried before. Their NY steak was not bad but salty in my personal opinion and usually I like rich flavor but it was too much for me. The Seafood Bouillabaisse was a bit bland and soup was tasteless but the scallop, salmon and halibut were not bad. The black cod was good tho I didn't get to try it. My frd seemed to love it however. The no-choice dessert chocolate cake was very good for the first few bites. I thought it was too rich and sweet when I was near finishing the whole thing. Good presentation tho. Come back? Maybe for the ambiance and service (the server was very professional and friendly, he recommended us to come back on birthdays because they have a special 5x5 chocolate cake as complimentary.

After reading some good reviews about this place I was excited to have my 2nd DOV here. However, I know cuz we had a big group of ppl so we were sat by the door it sucked but acceptable. Anyhow, The service was not bad but could be more friendly. I had the goat cheese salad, like some ppl said it was big but I didn't mind the portion and the taste. Though I wouldn't say it's that tasty. Just OK. My entree was Coq au Vin, it was not bad but I can't say much since it was my first time trying Coq au Vin not sure how a good Coq au Vin suppose to taste like. My partner and most of my friends had the steak flank and they all didn't like it too much. It presented as a kids meal to them somehow. The best was the trout probably as the group agreed on. My dessert was pretty good, I had the vanilla ice cream with apple tart. I'd say it was the best dish of night here. Tho it was vanilla ice cream but it was GOOD! It didn't taste just vanilla it was great and the apple tart was better than I thought too. Overall I'd say I might come back but wouldn't recommend it as a "wow this is a good restaurant u should definitely go" type of place to my friends.

I've read all the reviews before I went DOV 09 at this place. So I had higher expectations even tho I always try not to have high expectations (cuz I usually get disappointed later on). But it didn't disappoint me at all. Just like other reviews, they have great service, great smiles, great food, great timing between dishes. I had BC mussels (didn't wanna try but some reviews said they're good) and indeed those mussels were GREAT! My partner had scallops and they were just as good! Esp the mashed potato was yummy too! My main was lamb, it was nicely done but a bit too rich for me but portion was great (i couldn't finish it, had to leave room for dessert). My partner had halibut and frites. The plum with halibut were awesome even tho I thot the plum tasted funny by itself and fish tasted so-so by itself. With those 2 combined in the mouth: yummy! However, i thoguht the fries were just above average common fries but nothing too special. desserts were okay too but not bad! chocolate obession for my partner was a bit disappointing but still :) We were very happy with our first restaurant of our DOV 09 experience. I will definitely recommend it to my friends!

A great newly open Japanese place in Coquitlam. The price is reasonable and the portion is good. They are now creating new menu for special rolls and lunch boxes. They have a small sushi bar but great atmosphere. The place isn't big too. However, the service was not bad, my server was friendly. OH and they give out samples, complimentary appetizers. Which is great because we get to try some stuff that we might not order ever.
