nice atmosphere, good drinks, disappointing dinner

I've been here twice. Once for drinks and once for dinner and drinks. The ambiance upon entering Earl's Paramount is really nice. Trendy, modern and new. Sat in the lounge area which is made up of leather low sitting bucket chairs. I think it's perfect for getting a drink, but I'd recommend sitting in the dining room if you're planning on dinner. The music and echo were a little bit loud and we had to raise our voices to talk to each other.
It was Friday, so I thought I'd order something a little more expensive on the menu and went for the $18 seafood linguine with scallops and prawns. Portion was good, but I was really disappointed with the dish. Prawns were okay, but the scallops were tiny and looked like they were quickly warmed up after being taken out of a freezer bag. Not seared at all and mushy. The sauce was totally ruined by being WAY too salty and the linguine was a little overcooked. Would I order it again? Probably not. My friend ordered the soup of the day which was Mexican style and she said it was good. $6-7, pretty big and came with a piece of bread.
I'd recommend Earl's for a few drinks (blended mojito's and margaritas are great) and a few appetizers (Chili Chicken is tasty...sushi is disappointing). The dinner dish I had was overpriced for what I got.

to add on to my previous posting:
okay. although many people consider this to be a bar/pub, it's really a restaurant/pub, so i guess kids are allowed. just seemed weird. i shouldn't discourage families from going here because it's a nice place and i've heard the breakfasts and lunches are great. could be a nice family outing.
