Pleasantly Surprised
Submitted Friday, January 28, 2011 - 4:47pm [Dine in]

Even though this restraurant has been around since 1991 (?) I had never heard of it. My wife and I were invited to my Aunt and Uncle's 50th wedding anniversary and they hosted a lovely dinner here.

There were 18 of us and the staff managed to seat us at one table altogether. The manager met us at the door and directed us to our table. The two servers assigned to us were very friendly and extremely helpful.

The evenings meal went off without a hitch, but without doublt the highlight of the evening was when one of our server, Angelina, sang to the happy couple - just beautiful and so totally romantic.....quality performance......very memorable.

In summary, everyone had a wonderful time, the food and value here is pretty decent.... but it was the service and care that made the difference. Worth a visit.

Decent food - good service - okay value

Last Tuesday the wife and I dropped into this restaurant because we liked the name not knowing what to expect. We got there just before 5:00 and the "Open" sign wasn't on but the Manager was very gracious and let us in and sat us down at a table. (note: good thing we got there when we did because by 5:30 the restaurant was half full and by 6:00 it was lined up ) .

Simply put, we had a very good experience being novice hot pot goers. The food was great and the restaurant had a very nice feel. Service was excellent and very friendly.

Seemed a bit pricey though, but will definitely go back......but this time will make sure to make a reservation.

Wonderful Meal

My wife and I had an impromptu visit at Vijs last Thursday. The place was packed and we ended up waiting about 1 1/2 hours to be seated. ( apparently we had just missed the 1st seating ). Fair enough, so we sat in this tiny bar / holding area and while we had drinks they brought around a number of yummy appitizers.

When we were finally seated it felt a wee bit crowded and funny enough, the lady sitting behind me and I had to have a good laugh when she went to retrieve for something in her coat pocket and realized she was searching in my jacket instead of hers.

For dinner we decided to share Samosa's as an appitizer and for entree's I had the Lamb Lollipops and my wife had the Eggplant. I really can not discribe the flavours or textures without doing them an injustice, however the only words that comes to mind is brilliant and masterful.

Vij's has to be one of the top restaurants we have been to in Vancouver and will definitely be going back, and yes, the wait is definitely worth it.

Outstanding BBQ Meats
Submitted Thursday, August 26, 2010 - 11:31am [Dine in]

Went here with my daughter and had the Roasted Pork and my daughter had the BBQ Pork. Both meats were top notch. We decided to eat there and it is your typical wonton style eat and go kinda place. I would say that this is more of a takeout business. This HK style bbq is different than the others around town. One of the best to be sure.
