I took my friend from out of town to try this restaurant because she felt like hot pot. The food and selection were really good, but the service was just horrendous. I am Chinese myself and I know Chinese owned/operated restaurants do not have the best service, but this is just ridiculous. We were ignored, they pretended not to see us when we were trying to get their attention and when they finally saw us, they looked like we were really annoying them by asking for ice to go with our pop.
I've eaten here in the past and decided to give them one more change. I won't be going back.
I heard a lot of good reviews of this place so I decided to try it. Well, it wasn't THAT good. The food was average but I will give them props for trying to be unique. They had scallop gyozas and this other roll with mango, pineapple and eel. I've had mango/fruit in my sushi before it's usually pretty good. Their specialty rolls weren't outstanding.
The atmosphere was nice though. Good decor. Modern with touches of Asian influence. I liked it.
The service wasn't the greatest. The waitress was OK. Not the friendliest, but not mean.
The price was not worth it in my opinion. There are way better food in Vancouver for $90 for 2 people.
Overall... it's an average restaurant.
If you are eating at Gotham then expect to pay really high prices. Is it worth it? I think so.
This isn't a place where I can eat everyday, but every once and a while, I'd like to come back. My filet mignon was fabulous. Cooked just right. (Medium rare, more to the rare) My friend's was just a little more cooked even though she asked for the same. But they are really good at cooking up another one for you to get it right the 2nd time. The drinks were good. I think Joe Fortes is better for their martini's and cocktails.
The prices are just silly. Yes, the atmosphere is great and you can look out and see the water, but to charge me this much to cook my own food?
This place basically gives you a "Stone" to "grill" your food on. Sure I like the fact that the food is healthy and you can cook it as long or short as you want, but I truely feel that it's not worth it.
I probably won't go back unless they lower the prices.
I went to Kingyo with a bunch of my girlfriends after work one evening and I like the atmosphere. It's a dim and trendy looking Japanese restaurant.
The food I thought was good, however there are so many other Japanese tapa places I rather go to.
The service was great and the wait staff were attentive.
My favorite dish here is the cow tongue. It's the most unique dish at this place. Other dishes such as tuna with avocado and the beef sashimi are good. Prices for Kingyo isn't as good as Guu though. Too bad.
I love this place. The food is superb and the service is excellent. I've been back to Alpha twice and both times I was not disappointed. The care the staff take to create the food and drinks is great. There is no rush to make your food and slap it on your table.
My favorite dish at this place is the Nato Bomb. However, it's an aquired taste so before you order it, ask yourself if you like soy beans that are fermented. It looks like beans in caramel and has the same consistency. It's not sweet though.
I had dinner here a couple weeks ago with my boyfriend and I thought this place was good overall.
The service needs a bit of work. Friendly staff, but hard to get their attention. Was waiting for water for 15minutes. I usually don't care, but that day I was really thirsty. There weren't that many tables either. The waiter mainly helped this huge party of 16 people and barely peeked over at the 2 of us.
The food was good for the price. I had the Moussaka and it pretty good. My boyfriend had the steak and it wasn't overdone, so that was nice as well.
I will give this place another change and come back again if I happen to be in the neighbourhood.
