Huge disappointment
Submitted Friday, October 8, 2010 - 9:00pm [Delivery]

I am so disappointed with this restaurant. We just received our delivery order 50 minutes late. That kind of thing is forgivable. Bad food, is not.

My lasagna came with almost no meat and NO cheese. Zero cheese! The red sauce is clearly straight from IGA. Basically Gigi's is selling you food you could make at home and making you wait for it.

In their defence, they are sending over another lasagna dish to rectify the no cheese. On the phone, I was told they have a new cook working tonight. Again, I'm not out to hate on restaurants, and I can be understanding when new staff are learning the ropes. But who is Gigi's employing in their kitchen if lasagna is being made with no cheese?!

My partner didn't even eat his chicken breast with baked potato and vegetables. Again, the chicken is covered with a store bought BBQ sauce. The potato and vegetables are non-descript. Luckily for him, being lactose intolerant, he was able to eat some of my cheese-less lasagna.

Overall, 80% of our food is sitting on the counter uneaten. Within the next 2 hours I should be receiving my new order of lasagna. It will be nice to see the addition of cheese. But with the minuscule amount of meat and boring sauce, I'm not expecting to get my money's worth tonight.

For anyone out there with half an interest in tasteful food. Choose another restaurant.

I really wanted to like it, but.....

I went to this restaurant for my anniversary after reading positive reviews on this site and others. I had high expectations and ended up disappointed.

First, we were sitting upstairs which is supposed to be a little more swanky. The waitress warned us that is was really busy downstairs and that our service would be slow. It was. Strike 1.

When our starter bread came, it wasn't warm. Plus, the butter was hard and cold! It was terribly hard to spread and seemed like a terrible oversite for an Italian restaurant. Strike 2.

My boyfriend ordered one of the meat entrees which he said was OK. I ordered a margherita pizza and was shocked to see one side totally burned and inedible! Because of this restaurant's reputation, I thought I was in for the best pizza of my life. Not so. Strike 3.

I'd like to excuse them because they were super busy. But, all restaurants get super busy on the weekends. If you want to maintain a top reputation, you need to offer high end service any night of the week.
