We live in the area and dine in Steveston often. We had hoh hum experience last time ( 5 or so years ago) but were intrigued enough by reviews to try it again.
This time it was no different. My wife ordered the crab shrimp and avocado salad and the Alaska crab leg dinner. The appy was good but not great at $12 and the crab was what you would expect. I ordered the special which was a complete dinner at about $38.00 or so. The first course i chose was crab cakes which were good. The second course i chose was a seafood chowder which was fishy tasting, white thick chowder and no recognizable pieces of fish. My 3rd course was the lamb osso bucco. I would not usually order lamb in a seafood restaurant but it was on their fresh sheet/ special and I love lamb osso bucco. This is where it really went downhill. I won’t describe it other than to say a tough lamb shank covered in tomato sauce is not what I ordered and the menu described it quite different. The last course was great, chocolate mousse. With a $50ish dollar bottle of wine this dinner with tip (the waitress was good) was not worth the $150+ price tag! Steveston Seafood House please get your act together Steveston needs you!

loved it the first time but hated the no reservation policy, so we had never been back. It was my wifes birthday and her good friend suggested Vij's because she loved the food. The food she loved was what we had made for her from the Vij's cook book. The date planned was a Saturday night and I thought we had no hope for 5 people at 7:30 without waiting in line forever, but...I phoned and was told that if we arrived at around 5:30 we could put our name in and leave and be told when to come back! We arrived at 5:30 and was told to come back at 7:00 so we walk to a wine bar and came back on time and were treated to a few free appies and were seated witkin 20 mins. Dinner was better than before and the waiter was great! We ordered family style( shared platters) we asked how many we should order and he suggested 4 which surprised me, he didnt try to over sell. We needed 1 more dish and it came fast. Fabulous dinner try the short ribs and lamb. Wine list could use a lot of help tho! poor selection of affordable wines ( under $50).
