Yuck
Submitted Sunday, November 9, 2008 - 10:58pm [Dine in]

I ordered a bubble tea and it tasted nothing special. The mango parfait with green tea ice cream was deceiving from the picture. The mango was sour and it was really small. The toast with banana was just gross, you can make something way better at home. But I must say it's a good hang out place with friends, don't expect good service, have to take a lot of effort to flag someone down.

Sushi California501A North Rd, Coquitlam
bad service, dirty plates, decent sushi
Submitted Saturday, October 6, 2007 - 2:15am [Dine in]

I have to admit, it was a pretty good place to go for sushi when it just opened; the sushi was made nicely with generous proportions. HOWEVER, now it's just disappointing. They are always under staff, or even if they aren't there really is something wrong with their waitresses, they take their time as if customers are invisible.
I eat there all the time because my family loves that place but I really wouldn't recommend this place to people looking for a comfortable meal.

Service: understaffed and slow at bringing the food even though it is ready on the counter. one time I ordered 3 combos and 2 came and the last one came after we were done the 2 (even though it was sitting on the counter for 15min!).

Cleanness: this should go under service too but there was a fly on my salmon sushi so I told the waitress and they grudgingly replaced a new piece for me, which was smaller and thinner! also watch out for whats floating inside your tea and check if your plates are clean before using them.

Food: no complaints, decent, there really isn't anything near coq/lougheed area with this type of quality in food for the low price.

Disappointing
Submitted Sunday, September 9, 2007 - 4:50pm [Dine in]

It is a nicely decorated place, looks very clean. We weren't greeted right away even though it was not very busy. There were 3 servers working in the front with cooks in the back. They never asked if we wanted a refill of tea even though we were out.

The food is overpriced and the portions are small. I ordered a beef on rice and for $6.75 I got 5 pieces of rough meat. My friend ordered a spicy beef in soup and the beef was just as rough and horrible with under cooked noodles. We also ordered a small pork and veggie dumping, which came with a small dish of oil or something like that. There were way too much veggies and the pork had no flavour to it. The crispy chicken was the only decent thing there is but it wasn't amazing either.

Will not visit again.

Delicious gelato
Submitted Sunday, September 9, 2007 - 4:34pm [Dine in]

I went in and the servers were very friendly and constantly asking if I wanted to try any of the flavours.

I got a size small one and they said I could mix flavours and get up to as many flavours as I wanted. The waffle cone and chocolate was free too! I got cookies and cream and chocolate hazelnut - delicious!
When I went to the counter to pay, the cashier saw that I was sharing my gelato with someone and told one of the servers to give me another piece of chocolate leaf. Paid only $3.13 tax included; most places charge $4 and flavour mixing is not allowed.

They have a nice patio outside or you can sit inside to eat, the place is decorated nicely.

Good experience!

I went and tried the lunch special with my friend and it was a pleasant visit. They have 4 of them for only $6.95 each. They have a bit of everything in it including salad, rice, etc. The food was pretty decent and the meat was very flavoured; I love the battered vegetables.

It is a very small place but it is decorated creatively. We were the only people in the place and they were very friendly and caring.

Will visit again.

Not good at all . . .
Submitted Saturday, July 21, 2007 - 10:04pm [Dine in]

The service wasn't very good at all. The waitress took us to a seat near the closet where it's somewhat dark and crowded, there was another seat so we asked if we can switch to that one but the waitress just looked at us funny and walked away. It wasn't even a busy afternoon but we had to ask 3 times for someone to bring us tea.

The food is overpriced but it's fresh. I wouldn't say it's good quality or anything but it's one of the few choices if you are eating in Coquitlam area.

Decent place...decent food

The portions aren't very big and the prices are reasonable. But the atmosphere is pretty nice, it's nothing fancy but I'd recommend it if you are looking for a nice place to go on a date or something (somewhat dim light, not very loud inside, soft music playing).
Their sushi rice has too much vinegar in it and the food is not outstanding.

The sushi is huge!
Submitted Thursday, July 12, 2007 - 11:43pm [Dine in]

It's a really small place, I wouldn't say it's a nice place to sit down and eat but they get a lot of take out orders. The service isn't that good, the waitresses never smile or ask to refill tea.

However, the food is awesome. The sushi offers a huge piece of fish on top of the rice (bigger than the plate you put soy sauce in)!
The sashimi is fresh and for you salmon sashimi lovers, the pieces are cut to about 2cm or so (very thick and delicious) for a great price of $5/5 pieces.

Decent pho resturant
Submitted Monday, January 15, 2007 - 11:52pm [Dine in]

The service was decent, abit slow during dinner time but that goes for everywhere else too. The food is good, not enough meat in the pho though compared to other ones I've tried. The soup is very strong in taste if that is what you like.

Worst service ever
Submitted Monday, January 15, 2007 - 11:48pm [Dine in]

I went there for lunch with a friend and not only did a receive horribly poor service, they charged me 10% tips onto my bill. The waitresses would not even make eye contact and the lady at the cash register doesn't smile nor greets you with the friendliness expected. I would not recommend this place at all.
