Update
Submitted Friday, November 20, 2009 - 2:52pm [Dine in]

To update on my previous post - I can't figure out how to delete a review that I have already left.

I received today a letter dated Oct 19, and postmarks the 21st of Oct. Apparently Canada Post in all their glory lost a letter which I got today from the General Manager of this location. He wrote a personal letter and sent a gift certificate. When I called to thank him for it, I was offered the opportunity to give him a call when we want to come back and he will personally see to our dining experience.

Because of this we will give them another chance.

Perfect for our Anniversary!
Submitted Monday, November 2, 2009 - 12:02pm [Dine in]

For our first anniversary, we wanted to go somewhere that we don't usually go but haven't been for awhile that was close to home. It's nice to have to not go in to the city all the time to get something nice.

We were promptly seated after arriving for our 5:30 reservation. We had requested a window seat because the river is beautiful at night, and although not promised that we would receive one because others had requested the same thing, we were given a beautiful window seat in a corner!

Our server was always around if need be, and always checking in to make sure we were okay, or if we needed anything. For appetizers, I ordered the spinach, salmon and artichoke dip, and he the oysters as usual. Husband ordered the steak & Dungeoness crab for dinner, and I the steak and crab stuffed jumbo prawns. Both meals were absolutely delicious, but the spinach salmon and artichoke dip, while good, has some spices in it that we couldn't place and probably would of preferred to have had left out if we had known about them. We definitely got excellent food for the price they charge.

This is by far one of the nicer Boathouse restaurants, with a romantic feeling when you walk in, not a 'family dinner' restaurant type feel.

Our favourite!
Submitted Monday, November 2, 2009 - 11:43am [Dine in]

After opening, we thought to try them as we have only two decent sushi joints in the area, but not totally our favourite. We never liked everything on the menu, just one thing here, one thing there.

We loved everything. They have the best agadeshi tofu that I have ever had, but wish the tempura sauce would come warmed up when they served it. They give huge portions of noodle in their sunomono, their sashimi comes with like 10 pieces instead of 4 or 5, and they have something called the burning dynamite roll, which I've never seen anywhere but it is SO delicious (dynamite with spicy tuna on top)!

They are so friendly and remember their regulars. We often just order take out and bring it home to eat, and know who I am and what we like.

The restaurant itself is a little small, and with windows everywhere it gives a bit of a chill to it. The tables are pretty close together, so if you are looking for somewhere to go for a romantic date this probably isn't it unless it's a quiet time in the restaurant.
