My go-to sushi place now!
Submitted Tuesday, May 13, 2014 - 11:17am [Dine in]

Ra Sushi has become my new go-to spot in Langley. The service has always been warm, even when we came right before close one night. Sushi rolls are always interesting and taste great. We haven't tried any other menu items, just the rolls but they look good when they come out to other tables.

Highly recommended! Try the DT Roll, Crazy Roll and Crunch Rolls.

Ordered online since they delivered to my area and I have company comping over.

Food- average, nothing amazing. It was hot when it arrived and tasted good, but not my favourite place to order from. Ordered "large" sizes and had lots of leftovers!

Service - They arrived at the wrong time. I submitted my order for delivery at 6:50 and they were there at 6. I did make amistake and entered my address wrong and they had to call and confirm and were very nice about it.

Value - Again, average. They had a 20% off discount if you ordered over $50 which was nice. All in all, I think I'd continue to go elsewhere.

Best taco in my entire life!

Dear Tacofino, thank you for enriching and enhancing my life withyour beautiful fish tacos. I expected them to be good, but my oh my did you rock my world. Perfectly cooked fish and delicious toppings and sauces. The mint & lime freshie was also really great, and the diablo chocolate cookie just put things over the top. Good outdoor eating space and it was busy busy busy! Well worth the wait though.

Awesome everything!

I usually order Combo #1 and it lasts me dinner & lunch the next day. All the meals are quite large and very well priced. The beef pho is always really good too and they have really large and tasty salad rolls here. Everything I have had here has been delicious, never a bad meal.
The service is attentive, but not overly friendly. The restaurant is also not the most amazing looking, but we usually order take out so it's not a problem.

Years ago I used to boycott this place, but it has now become one of my favourite sushi spots. New owners go a long way. There is a younger woman who is usually our server who is extremely nice and friendly. She always knows my order and remembers me when I come which is sweet.

The absolute best thing on the menu is the hwe dup bap. It's a korean rice bowl with veggies, sashimi and a spicy sauce. It is massive (can get 2 solid meals out of it) for $11. I have tried it at other restaurants but it's never as good. The sushi is always good here too - there's a huge menu so I havent gotten through it all yet.

Weird, awful, terrible, disappointing food, service and restaurant!
Submitted Tuesday, April 23, 2013 - 1:15pm [Dine in]

We stopped off here for dinner one night last summer and wish we hadn't. The restaurant was about half full, but the waiter seemed hesitant to seat us. The room was so bloody dark we could hardly read our menus. The lights also surged and flickered every time an appliance got turned on in the kitchen and was also quite noisy.

Our service was down right awful. He seemed to make every effort to avoid us the entire enight. He was also rude or disinterested when we spoke to him. It took forever to get our drinks, which weren't any good. It took even longer for him to come back and take our appetizer order. He kept going to the other tables loudly chit chatting with the "locals" while we starved. We had to flag him down several times.

We asked what were some of the popular dinner items and were told "Its all good". After we ordered, we overheard him telling another table about the specials, which he never informed us of. When I asked if I could please change my order to the special, which sounded much better, he said no it was too late. When our meals arrived, we were incredibly disappointed. My partner had the lobster pot pie and it was BLAND! No flavour at all, and very runny. I ordered the bouillebaisse and it the seafood was very overcooked and the broth was bland. I took a couple bites and had to write it off, it didn't taste fresh and the texture of all the seafood was terrible. We sat at our table, ignored again, for a very long time not eating our meals as they got cold. We finally waived our server over and complained about our meals. We were basically told that it was too bad, and our dishes were whisked off.

We were again left to wait a long time. We actually got up and went to the front to get our bill so we could get out of there. They did not discount anything for us! We begrudgingly paid the bill and left and will never return again. We would NEVER EVER recommend this place to anyone.

Best indian in Surrey & area!
Submitted Monday, April 22, 2013 - 4:34pm [Take-out]

I have tried many indian places near the house trying to find better take out, and this place still takes the cake. The food quality, quantity and value cannot be beat. Not only is is cheaper than any other restaurant - but you get way more food as well. Usually ordering a couple dishes with naan and rice will give the two of us hefty dinner portions for 3 days and will cost us around $30. I have tried most of their dishes at least once, and have never been disappointed. Lamb curry, saag paneer, butter chicken, garlic naan and mulai kofta are our favourites/stand by dishes.

I have never stayed to eat here, but the take out service is always very speedy. Food has always been hot and ready when they say it will be (usually 20 mins). I haven't had a lot of the sweets, but the barfi and gulab jaman I have had are delicious as well.

Can't be beat!

Prawn tacos here are stellar!
Submitted Thursday, March 7, 2013 - 12:04pm [Dine in]

Despite the previous poor reviews, we quite liked the food last night!

It was a quiet/slow night so our service was good. Our waitress was pleasant and helpful. We ordered the prawn tacos to start which were awesome! I didn't know how the chocolate bacon would work in them, but turns out it was perfect. My partner had the soup/salad/half sandwich and enjoyed each part. He did mention the salad bowl was very awkward to eat out of, but the soup was really good apparently. I had the portabella burger and 1/2 salad 1/2 fries. The burger was ok, but not amazing. The bun was nice and I think a regular burger would be great here. The fries were really good, stayed crispy and warm for a long time. The house salad was really good, but the bowl was an issue here too. We both thought the food was spicier than expected, but that's not a bad thing in our books.

The atmosphere here is nice. It's a big open restaurant with darker lighting. It was mostly empty when we were there, but I could see if being packed and lively on a weekend or game night.

Overall we were pleasantly surprised and will be returning.

What a joke!

Called and ordered 1 small pizza and 1 large pizza and were told 45mins for delivery. After 1hr 15min we called to check on it and were told it was on it's way. We asked what time he left, but the girl on the phone seemed to not care or want to answer any questions. After 1hr 30 mins, we called back again and were told the same thing. At this point we cancelled our order and told them we would not be accepting the order.

At the 2hr mark, after we had already cancelled the order, the delivery guy showed up at our door. We told him several times what happened and even though it was not his fault, we were not going to accept or pay for the pizza as it had been a 2hr wait and we phoned and cancelled. After haggling with us and not leaving the door, we gave him $15 and took the pizza.

We ended up with 2 large pizzas, so on paper it was a good deal if you ignore the terrible service and long wait. The pizza tasted good, but both of us have had upset stomachs today & last night.....

Bottom line: we will never order here again or ever recommend it.

Fantastic food and service!
Submitted Wednesday, November 7, 2012 - 1:34pm [Dine in]

I had been to this restaurant a few years ago and loved it, and returned last night to be just as impressed. I took my boyfriend for our anniversary dinner to have the chef;s selection 4 course meal. Our waitress was great about making sure the chef knew our likes/dislikes and my food sensitivites.

We started with drinks (which were made well) and some bread and got out first course which was a caesar salad and a duck and apple slaw salad. The caesar is amazing - they make their own bacon which is delicious. Salad was a little over dressed, but incredibly tasty. Next we were given crab cakes and mussels, both were some of the best I'd ever had. I should note the portion sizes here are very filling, they aren't short on that at all. By the time we got our mains we were already pretty full. My boyfriend got the steak over mashed potatoes with truffle butter mushrooms and I got to have the honey date duck breast. Mushrooms on top of the steak were the best, and I wish I could have them at home all the time. Botht he steak and the duck were cooked perfectly too, very tender.

After all that we finished with our desserts - a panna cotta with wild blueberries and a pumpkin tart. We enjoyed both, and enjoyed being able to share each course we got so we could try a little of everything.

The only weird thing about the night was that the restaurant was empty. With food so good, I'm not sure why we were alone. It is in a bit of a strange (quiet) spot in the industrial park, so maybe that is why. We will definitely be heading back and recommending it to friends for nice nights out.

Not my type of place....
Submitted Friday, September 14, 2012 - 1:39pm [Dine in]

I hate to say it, but I'm not a fan of this restaurant. Sure, it's new and clean and pretty, but I'm not eating the decor.

The food was bland and overpriced. The salad rolls were yummy, but paying $10 for two of them is insane. The Pho didn't taste bad, it was just sort of dull and also small for what you pay. This is modern vietnamese....meaning they don't offer much in the way of authentic items. I guess I'm used to, and enjoy, the older style where you can get tripe and tendon in your soup and the broth is super tasty.

The owners/staff are very friendly and nice,so I hate to knock their restaurant. But this place is also mostly self-service. Meaning I had to ask for a water glass, and keep getting up to refill it throughout the meal. If you're trying to have a conversation with a dining partner is can be rather disruptive.

Overall, the food isn't bad it's just overpriced and lacking big flavours. That said I might give them another try later down the line and see if their food has changed at all. They are fairly new right now, maybe things will change.

Excellent as always
Submitted Tuesday, November 20, 2007 - 8:58am [Dine in]

I've been to Sonoma Grill for murder mysterys, wine tastings, spa night and just regular dinners quite a few times, and it is always excellent.

Last night was just as great as usual. Our server was very friendly, helpful and very patient with us (we took a long time to order, everything looked great on the new menu). And everytime I've spoke to the owner, Michael, he's been very kind as well.

Our table had french onion soup & coconut prawns to start. The soup was the best french onion soup I've had, and a big portion of it too. Coconut prawns were also excellent (and large) with very tasty dipping sauce. For entrees we had the jambalaya, baby back ribs, striploin steak and the cioppino. Everything tasted fabulous and we all left very impressed and too full for dessert unfortunatly!

I'll definetly keep coming back!

Huge portions or little money!
Submitted Tuesday, November 13, 2007 - 6:29pm [Dine in]

Every time I've gone to Seh-Mi for pick up or to stay and eat it's been bang-on. Food is excellent and you get a huge amount for an average (or below) price. The spider roll is to die for here! The seafood box is also a killer deal.

Service is always super friendly and prompt. Most people will pass up this place because isn't much more than a shack that you can hardly tell if it's in business or not. I like the inside, small but cozy and everyone always seems happy to be there.

You'll leave happy, full and with some cash still left in your wallet!

Go for the malibu roll!
Submitted Tuesday, November 13, 2007 - 2:26pm [Dine in]

Overall this place was a winner with me when I went a few months ago. A friend and I stopped in and tried a few rolls and were very pleased. It is a bit pricey (in my opinion) , but worth it for the food quality and the service. The menu is filled with interesting items and I highly recommend the Malibu roll!

I'd like to also make special mention of our waiter that evening (of course I've forgotten his name now). He was very patient and helpful with the menu and provided cheerful and quick service. He was also sweet enough to call my friend & myself a cab, and then chase it down the street when it missed the restaurant! We will definetly be coming back!
