First off I must say service at Lumiere was outstanding, professional servers are definately something nice to see in a city of pretty but incompitent ones. The real problems with Lumiere come in the form of price for quality. You pay alot for what should be a good dining experience. Unfortunately I think Rob has believed a little too much of the hype his TV show has created. The food there is a touch on the bland side, when it comes to a tasting menu one expects excitement with every mouthful. Lumiere just doesn't live up to that expectation. After having dined at some of Canada's better restaurants my first time here could not compare to the food I tasted at North 44 in Toronto, Chez Piggy in Kingston, or even Bish in Halifax.

So Rob, when you decide to catch up with the really good chef's out there, please let us know.

I went to the Main during a relaxed Thursday evening while on a first date. Fortunately for me, my date didn't judge me on the choice. The service was lacking to say the least, The food while not bad, wasn't something to write home about. As someone who has worked in the food industry, as a chef, for the past 12 years I find it depressing to see restaurants like these last, where as ones who have good service and food can't get their foot in the door. From what I am told, this restaurant used to be alot better, wish I would have tried it then.. The reason I had to give this restaurant an overall rating of 1 is the combination of poor service and rude server, with the mediocraty of the actual food.

I had the Creole Penne with Sausage, the pasta was over cooked and the only thing noticable in it besides that was the heat, not really flavour just a lets see how hot we can make this. My date went with a salad with grilled chicken, she said the chicken tasted ok, but the salad lacked anything original in it as it was just lettuce tomato, carrot and dressing.
