Mui Garden Restaurant1610 Robson Street, #105, Vancouver
Good for take outs
Submitted Sunday, March 4, 2007 - 10:04am [Dine in]

This Mui Garden is inside Robson Market and is not very spacious. They have seats for 8 or so only. But their food is better than the other Mui garden I have been to. I would recommend ordering their Hainan Chicken, Singapore Fried Noodle and their famous Curry Brisket. They do deliveries too within West End.

Good Lamb Burger
Submitted Sunday, March 4, 2007 - 9:57am [Dine in]

I have been to both the Denman and the Davie's Vera's Burger and their food are both good, but I would prefer their Denman store, the staff are a bit more friendly. Their lamb burger is my favorite and of course their poutine too. Thanks for the good food.

Fatburger1101 Denman St., Vancouver
Fat, Yes! Big, NO!
Submitted Saturday, March 3, 2007 - 8:48pm [Dine in]

I went to Fatburger because of its reputation, but instead end up with lots of disappointment. First of all, I didn't expect to pay that much for a McDonald style burger, I mean with that price I can go to a full service restaurant. Second, there's nothing special about that burger patty, exept like an aging, dried up, unattractive piece of patty which should be placed in an old age home. In my humble opinion, it's one expensive McDonald burger. Vera's Burger down the road is definitely a better choice.

Good HK food but don't look for anything else
Submitted Wednesday, January 24, 2007 - 11:27pm [Dine in]

It was quite a busy place at lunch time. We ordered Beef with Black Bean Sauce Chow Mein and Malaysian Fried Rice. Taste is definite a thumbs up but beware, the Malaysian Fried Rice could be too spicy hot for some people. Ambiance? It's a HK style cafe, are you really looking for ambiance? Same as service. The place is pretty clean though.

Authentic Northern Delicacy
Submitted Wednesday, January 24, 2007 - 11:18pm [Dine in]

It's a Wednesday night. We are in Richmond Aberdeen Centre and trying to decide should we go for 7th Heaven or Northern Delicacy, but Northern Delicacy looks better so off we go. We ordered the Salted Duck appetizer, it was delicious, juicy and slighty salty. We also had the House Pan Fried Noodle, Steam Dumplings and Eel with Chives. The noodles have a superb texture (hand-made noodles). The dumplings are perfect too, which you should be able to lift it up with out breaking and it should be the exact size of one mouthful and when you chew the dumpling the juice should flow inside your mouth. Eel dish was impressive with generous amount of eel in there. They are all above standard. Our servers are all very polite and attentive. Nice tea by the way.

Much Improved
Submitted Monday, December 11, 2006 - 10:38pm [Dine in]

I have not been to Shabusen for over a year because of a few bad experience. Last night was a Christmas party so I thought what the heck. After going through their menus, we finally decided on having the Sushi and Korean BBQ All You Can Eat. We have ordered almost everything on the menu in a single order, just to be sure we are going to get sufficient food. When the food came, we realize the food potions are bigger than I remember back in a year ago. I mean the potions are twice as big nowadays. The quality of the food are much improved also. Tuna belly sushi and tuna sashimi are definitely my favorites. Spicy salmon used to be really gross, but it is now much improved too. In fact it got solid chucks of salmon instead of the old mushy overly refridgerated salmon and tuna lumps.

Overall, it's very much improved. Worth the money for the experience.

Understanding WILD MEAT Burgers
Submitted Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 12:51pm [Dine in]

The taste of their food is as interesting as the selection on their menu. It is fair to understand this is a Wild Meat joint and if their food is not up to your taste maybe you are not a wild meat lover then. Bottomline is wild meat burger cannot be compare with a beef burger or a veggie burger, period. Anyway, in my opinion, the food was great, price is slightly more than I expected, but then where can you find a restaurant serving Muskox burger. Mushroom topping is a little small, bacons on the other hand are so sufficient that you have it in every bite. It's a two thumbs up (three if I have more thumbs).

Bad restaurant pick on a bad weather night
Submitted Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 12:32pm [Dine in]

It was Saturday night in the West End and it was raining. A couple of friends came over for a visit. We need a restaurant to be able to accommodate four of us. First we tried India Bistro but they have a half an hour wait. ROMANO'S came to mind and we decided to give it a try. This is not my first time at ROMANO'S. My last experience was less than okay but I thought we should give it a try one more time. We went in and registered for a table for four. We went over to the bar and have a drink while we are waiting. The bartender was friendly. About 15 minutes we are being seated, our server introduce himself as Dxxxxx. He offered our menus and we thanked him but he doesn't seems to be very responsive. It was a bit noisy so we thought he didn't hear us. When he came back in 5, he was asking if we are ready, I said some of us are but it would be nice to have a few minutes more to decide. He didn't offer any suggestion and just walked away. The rest of the night with the server wasn't exactly pleasing or (for some reasons) maybe vice versa too. At the end we still gave him 20% tips as a courtesy. He gave us a barely audible thanks and left. Maybe a "thanks guys and enjoy the night" would be nice.

Though I have to say food is excellent. We had Lobster Ravioli, Veal Marsala, Sirloin Firenza, and Linguine Alla Vongole. The meal is well prepared and portions are generous. The lady which offer us cheese and fresh pepper is well-mannered and helpful in serving suggestions even though she is busy herself.

In conclusion, bad restaurant pick on a bad weather night, I would not go back if I don't have to. Next time I would know what to expect, bad service but decent food. May I suggest going to LUXY BISTRO instead.

Sash Brasserie1447 Commercial Dr., Vancouver
Sashy Fushion
Submitted Sunday, September 3, 2006 - 12:21pm [Dine in]

Sash in my opinion is a "fushion" restaurant. We try it out during lunch. The Portabella Steak and Dungeness Crab is very eye pleasing and delicious. The creamy topping that goes with the portabella mushroom gives your taste buds a soothing feeling. On the otherhand the Thai Style Chicken Noodle Soup is nothing interesting at all. The menu in general seems lack of selections and professionalism. Item which is off the menu was crossed out with a sharpie pen. Patio has an interesting view but seated a little bit too close to other people which you can hear other people's conversation or vice versa. Have to applause to the servers' great services and attitude, very prompt and attentive. They make small conversations with patrons, and making you feel relaxed and comfortable in their establishment and not rushing you out of the door. You go when you are ready. Overall experinece is comfortable, service is more than great but need to work on their menu though.
