The Taste of Fresh
Submitted Monday, September 17, 2007 - 11:00am [Dine in]

Really Good Mexican take out. The salsa and guacamole couldn't be better. Excellent lean chicken burritos and quesadillas. Extremely filling and reasonably priced. Not a speck of grease in sight makes this delicious fare seem (almost) like health food.

Great Downtown Addition
Submitted Thursday, September 13, 2007 - 6:27pm [Dine in]

A welcome addition to the Downtown lunch scene. Wonderful moist hot pastrami with little or no fat. True to the menu description, the sandwiches are overstuffed. The smaller "Not So Hungry" version is more than adequate. A real taste of New York, cafeteria style, run by a great friendly staff. So, what's not to like?!

Truly Bad
Submitted Tuesday, September 11, 2007 - 6:53pm [Dine in]

From the outside (which is a good place to stay) this looks like a real old time restaurant you might find in NY's Little Italy. That where all comparisons end. Better food can be found in a high school cafeteria although the portions here are larger. The sauce tastes canned and the pasta is over cooked. I won't even get into the obnoxious owner. How any one could find this place worth a visit is beyond me.

Superb Lunch
Submitted Tuesday, September 11, 2007 - 5:20pm [Dine in]

This is my new favorite restaurant in Vancouver. Everything was wonderful. We started with lobster bisque and the onion tart. The main courses were the tiger prawns in a tomato base accompanied by great mashed potatoes and vegetables and the mixed halibut grill with salmon and prawns. Everything was perfectly cooked. In addition, we were served crab tarts at the start of the meal and lemon sherbet soaked in liqueur after the main courses, courtesy of the chef. For dessert we shared an out of this world warmed chocolate cake topped with praline ice cream. With four drinks the bill came to a more than reasonable $110. It's always nice to feel that you got your money's worth and this was certainly the case. Our server, Bernadette, who was a delight, made the meal even more enjoyable with polished, professional service. Well done all around!

Love This Place

Still going strong after all these years. The tan tan noodles are great beyond belief. Also highly recommended are the fried green beans, orange beef, chicken with spinach, hot and sour stir fried asparagus, mushrooms & peapods, and the sweet & sour pork. This is Szechuan cooking at its very best. Lunch is an especially good bargain.

Dim Sum
Submitted Monday, August 14, 2006 - 12:00pm [Dine in]

It's always fun to take out of towners to this huge noisy space that's part restaurant, part tourist attraction. Better than the Pink Pearl but it seems to have recently gone downhill. Have noticed lately that the pork buns contain more fat than in the past and that the sticky rice now has slices of what appears to be hot dog. Although there are no carts and therefore it's not as much fun, there is better quality dim sum at Shanghai Chinese Bistro on Alberni.

Super Spot for Brunch
Submitted Monday, August 14, 2006 - 11:40am [Dine in]

Of all the chains, Milestone's is the best. The Yaletown branch is our favorite as you can take your dog (tied to the fence next to your table) and they have a pizza oven (not all branches do) for the great stuffed pizza bread appetizer. The eggs benedict are perfect and the bloody marys are as good as you can get. Only caution: if you eat on the patio avoid the tables on the far end (too close to the dumpsters).

Beautiful Spot

Brunch here is extremely pleasant. Wonderful view, excellent service and reasonably priced menu with good variety. Highly recommended, especially for out of town guests. Make sure to get table by the window.

Wonderful All Around

Great spot to take out of town guests. The location is perfect and the service is always attentive but not fawning. All the seafood dishes are recommended. I especially like the steamed clams. Top notch wine list. One of Vancouver's best.

Go across the street to Morton's
Submitted Friday, August 11, 2006 - 6:39pm [Dine in]

After having a wonderful dinner here a few years ago, we went back recently during their Atlantic lobster fest. A major disappointment. Lobsters were overcooked and tasteless and although their menu defines the meaning of rare, medium rare, etc., the steaks were not cooked as described. The medium rare steaks ordered were served medium well. For the price it should be better. We won't be back.

Wonderful Indian
Submitted Friday, August 11, 2006 - 6:25pm [Dine in]

We've been doing take out here for eight years and have never been disappointed. You won't find NY Times reviews as you do for Vij's, but you will find wonderful Indian favorites as good as any in London. The naans, onion bahji, and all the tandoori dishes are first rate, the prices are extremely reasonable and the staff couldn't be nicer.
