Worst Indian Restaurant EVER!
Submitted Thursday, November 3, 2011 - 6:56pm [Dine in]

I went to this restaurant with no expectations thinking I would give it a shot. I usually go to Palki but was curious to see if they were comparable to Palki (so far has been the best Indian Food). The butter chicken was watery and tasteless, we ordered hot but it was mild. Naan tasted old, rice was old, and the chicken tikka was all dry. I've never had such disgusting Indian food in my life. Also, its just a take out joint so you can't even sit down and have a glass of wine. I advise people not to waste their money, Palki might be a couple bucks more expensive but it definitely is worth it.

Palki is on the Drive!
Submitted Wednesday, September 8, 2010 - 12:57pm [Dine in]

About time we got some great Indian food on the Drive. We have been lacking this on Commercial Drive, but now Palki has made their way down. I've been to their North Vancouver location numerous times and they have never seemed to disappoint. They just recently opened up and all I can say is WOW. The food is amazing, from the Wings from Hell to the Butter Chicken ( best Butter Chicken in the Lower Mainland), the decor is perhaps the nicest compared to most Indian Restaurants. Also they had a lounge section (where we sat) with a full stocked bar. Staff was very friendly as usual and the whole experience was great. If you are a Curry lover and love Indian food, this is a must! I will be seeing you again Palki

Perhaps the worst experience ever!

I know its the Olympics and all but having no server come to your table asking you if you need anything or re-filling a glass of water for an hour is absurd. We got there at 5 pm and the place was yet to be busy. No one offered us a drink for 20 minutes and when our drinks arrived our beers were warm. Then no one came by to take our orders for appetizers, we personally had to go and get our waiter to take our order. After all that, we ordered our dinner. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes to arrive. At this point we complained many times and were extremely hungry. Yes by this point they got busy but its no excuse to have to wait an hour and 45 minutes for 4 people course. During that 1 hour 45 mins no waiter even came by to update us on the food, all I received is " It's coming". When we finally got out food, My friend and I had the Chicken Kalypso and it was just awful. The prawns (on the menu it said we were to recieve 4 tiger prawns, we only got 3 per plate) had no flavour chicken was cold and dry potatoes were cold as well as the rice. The only bright spot was the salad. My other friend had the Chicken Marcella, the pasta was just HORRIBLE!!! It was filled with oil and oil. Because they made us wait for so long on our dinner they offered us free Tzatki. But last time I checked tzatki comes as a side for Lamb Souvlaki that my friend had ordered. Way to be slick. This was honestly the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant and will never be going back for sure.

Cheers,

Great Vibe, Dissapointing everything else

I went to this restaurant a couple months ago, really wanted Indian food and was in the neighbourhood. My being an Englandy really likes his curry. As we went in the restaurant had a great vibe and feel to it. It seemed like a winner to me. However, it took 15 minutes just to get me a beer(restaurant probably had 3 tables at the time) Our Waiter ( I think the owner) was a nice man to talk to but seemed in a hurry to get our order, which I didn't like. After we ordered our food, ( butter chicken, fish masala, raita, aloo gobi, and Naan), it went even further downhill. The butter chicken was tasteless and all watery, plus the chicken pieces were just massive. Naan had to much butter, aloo gobi was the bright spot as the fish masala was over cooked. Like I said, vibe and ambiance great, everything else disappointing.

Cheers,

I went to Browns for a lunch meeting to meet a friend, I had never heard of the place but my friend insisted on it. This place is great to have a beer and have a burger. The staff serving us were kind, food was great, and it was a nice little place to just sit and talk. and have a beer

Butter Chicken to die for!!!!
Submitted Monday, August 10, 2009 - 11:08am [Dine in]

I've been living in Vancouver for about 5 years now, I have really missed my curry since moving from England. I've been to many Indian Restaurants but I have yet to have good Butter Chicken. The Butter Chicken was just amazing, perfectly spiced and the chicken was perfectly tender. We also had the Wings From Hell, literally they were from hell. They were hot but amazing tasting, it was quite the delight. The other dishes we had including the Channa Masala and and the Saag Paneer were also tasty. However the Butter Chicken was the highlight of the night. There service was good to. They had this one fellow by the name of Savian or Savion or something like that. He truly makes you feel like your at home. Even if your not from England, they have the best Butter Chicken and i highly suggest you to try this place out.

Cheers,
