I ordered a Vera Burger tonight by phone, it was prepared on time, ready to go when I arrived, under 10 bucks and honestly, scrumptious. Well done guys! Will always come back, been good for 10 years, always a memory attached to a burger from Vera's in Kits.
This place is getting run down and the quality of the food for what is costs is very poor value. We popped in here for a quick bite on a weeknight, I used to like CC but it seems the food is really slipping. I would say it is mediocre at best. It kind of amazes me that people are willing to pay so much for such poor quality food...really you could spend only a couple more bucks and be fine dining rather that in a restuarant of DUDES and screaming babies.
I made a reservation at Maple Grill for a business lunch on the recommendation of a designer friend of mine. I had no idea it existed and it was a delightful surprise. The exterior of the places belies the lovely, stylish interior and overall nice ambiance. Its really a little gem inside.
Lunch was pretty quiet but ideal for a business lunch and the food was healthy, tasty and fresh. What more do you want? I'm not Jewish, but if this is Kosher, bring it on!
However the food in this place is only half the equation -- Elaine, the owner is a pure delight and goregous. This is the type of young lady who you really want to see become a success. The crowd at lunch seemed pretty eclectic, almost what you might find in New York, uptown, and I can't wait to go back some evening and see what's up.
Such a refreshing change from the typical generic eateries like Cactus Club, Joeys and all those places which seem to be taking over. Truly an individual eatery with a sense of style, great food, delightful owner/hostess, great solid basics menu with a charming touch of Kosher healthfulness.
I travel internationally and prefer my own cooking generally so when I go out I look for good value and ambiance and it is should be a special treat. This is basically an upscale "French" diner with service that is efficient but kind of remote and absent simultaneously. I am still digesting my "AAA" steak, so I am not sure. If you know NYC this could have been an innocuous anywhere place on the Upper West Side. Poor value, mediocre streak but good fries. Would not go back and honestly wished we had gone to Mistral just a couple doors down. Do not recommend.
