I have been to Cabin 12 on several occasions and have had a few of the dishes. The food is average and compares to many other breakfast joints in Victoria. The waiters have always been quite friendly, but the food often is slow to come to the table. The food is also VERY salty, to the point of almost being too salty to eat. Aside from the salt, the food is decent and I would probably eat there again. Atmosphere is a bit eclectic, but the place feels a bit "dirty" or "grimey" to me. All in all it's mediocre food and mediocre service but its cheap and worth a visit.
The pizza at this place is amazing. The service isn't always the greatest, but it's decent and has much improved since they first opened last year. I have been to Italy, and I must say I prefer this pizza. Nothing beats the Margarita pizza. All their pizzas are baked in a wood fired oven fueled with Birch and are DELICIOUS!!! Their salads and olves are also outstanding. HIGHKY reccommended!!!!
I went to Sanuk with some work colleagues a while ago. We were all incredibly shocked at the terrible service and the food portion size. I had called ahead to make our reservation and place our order. I figured they must be closed because I phoned for 45 minutes before I got a response. I should have given up there and then, but continued to try because the website indicated they were open. Upon our arrival, I realized why noone had answered my call! The phone rang the entire time we were there and the waitress did not ONCE attempt to answer the phone. The ringing was very distracting and I was frustrated for those who were trying to get through!
Also, the food portions were TINY and expensive. We had pre-ordered but our food was late..oh and did I mention that we were one of only about 3 tables in the place?
The waitress was rude and not attentive, never came to ask how our food was or bring us water or our bill. We had to hunt her down to get and pay for our bill. We were late getting back to work. All in all, don't waste your money here, it's jus tragic.
I really enjoy going to Sookjai. The food is consistently god and flavourful. Dishes are large, and always come out fresh and hot. I normally order the chicken cashew dish and a beef peanut dish because they go really well together. They also have some good local beer on tap, and they seem to keep their keg lines really clean. This is likely my favourite Thai place in Victoria.
Bart's to me is a great place to grab a pint...it is usually less busy than surrounding pubs/bars and the have fairly well priced large pints. I would not recommend any of the food I have had at Bart's as it all appears to be pre-made frozen food from Sysco or the like. Take Bart's for what it is (a cool old pub with decent beer and hit-or-miss service) and it's a pretty great place for a drink. Do not plan on having a full meal here though! There is also a live band on the weekends!
I go to Azuma often and order their bento boxes. I find the service here excellent and they allow me to pre-order which is handy as have a short lunch hour. My meals are always on the table within 5 miinutes of my arrival. The staff are good in person but sometimes not as nice over the phone. I think any lack of customer service is only due to how busy it is in there. I would recommend making a reservation if you are pressed for time!
I came here for breakfast a month or so ago and ordered a hamburger. We had to wait about 1 hour for a table. The girl sat us down right by the kitchen and it was the smallest worst table in the place and was very loud from people coming in and out of the kitchen. We sat there for 30 minutes before we could order. My burger took 1.5 hours to make....we timed it! And she only once came over and said "sorry the burger takes a while." I didn't know hamburgers took over an hour to cook! It was not that good of a burger (Ferris' does a much better burger) and the food is far overpriced. It is nice that they are using organic produce, but that doesn't mean you should price everything as highly as they are. I will not be going back! I don't have time to sit for 3 hours in order to get a simple breakfast!
This is one of my favorite places to come. I always get the New York steak and am sure to order come shitake mushrooms which are excellent. If you haven't been here you should check it out because it's a very unique experience! Your food can not be more freshly cooked! And I LOVE their steak sauce!
I have been to the Bengal lounge about 10 times and my experiences have been varied. I normally order the steak which is really great and always cooked just how I ask for it. The service is good but was poor on one particular occasion when they wanted to use my table for an older very wealthy looking couple. They asked me ( a young girl) and my boyfriend to go sit on the couches as we were only having drinks and already had finished our dinner. I found that rude! Other than that the service has been ideal and their live music is impressive on Friday and Saturday nights.
