Heritage House Pizza Company2714 Clarke Street, Port Moody
A Great Italian Restaurant in Port Moody
Submitted Saturday, January 22, 2011 - 10:26am [Dine in]

I have eaten here a few times with friends and my husband and this is definitely the place you want to go for good authentic Italian pizza and entrees. The service is not 5 star but the food is excellent. You can tell that the ingredients they use for their pizza is fresh, right down to the mozzarella. Do not miss out on this place!!

Pear Tree, The4120 Hastings Street, Burnaby
A Great Gem In Burnaby!
Submitted Saturday, January 22, 2011 - 10:24am [Dine in]

My husband and I have dined at the Pear Tree since 2007 and we have never had a bad experience or a bad dinner there. If you want to go to a restaurant where the food is fresh, delicious and the service is top notch, than this is the place to go. The menu is small just like you would see at any fine dinning establishment (this is not a Franchise restaurant people), but what they serve from the small menu they have is superb. My husband and I have eaten at 5 star restaurants and this one is definitely a Gem. Recommendations: The chocolate ganache for dessert (sweet, tart, salty and rich all come together in this dish), the lamb and the chicken dish. My husband has tried the chef's menu a few times to change it up and he loved it. So, if you want a place that is contemporary, with a small put superb menu with excepetional attention to service than this is it!

Onyx Steakhouse & Lounge101 Morrissey Road, #7, Port Moody
Delicious Food & Good Service
Submitted Saturday, January 22, 2011 - 10:16am [Dine in]

My husband and I tried Onyx last Monday and our experience was very good. The interior is very "posh" and I would compare it to a Keg meets Browns kind of atmosphere. This is definitely a MEAT restaurant so if your a vegetarian or are not feeling like Meat, then don't go here!

The lounge looks very hip and would be a great place to meet friends after work for some appies and drinks :)

We arrived and were greated by the restaurant manager right away and seated immediately. The server was pleasant and took our orders right away. The only downfall was that my husband wanted the bone in steak on the menu and they ran out of it from the weekend, and then we went to order the scallops as an appie and found out that they weren't up to the restaurants standards when they received the shipment that day so we couldn't have those either. We were not upset by this though because we would rather not be served scallops if they did not look good then risk being sick. Also, my husband works in the restaurant industry and I used to work in it so we understand if something is not available to order.

The menu is created as A La Carte, so be prepared to choose your meat and then any side you may like. We had the corn fritters as an appetizer (they were delicious), my husband had the lamb which is said was very good and I had the filet stuffed mignon burger which was good as well. We ordered three sides, the smashed potatoes, yam fries and the onion rings. The onion rings are awesome! You can hear them crunch as you bite into them and they are soooo good! So that is definitely my recommendation as a side dish. The food was cooked perfectly, the presentation was excellent, everything was fresh and tasty and our wine glasses were always topped up!

At the end of the night the manager apologized for the fact that the two things that we ordered off the menu were not available and brought us a dessert wine each (which was very nice of him).

Sure there were some hiccups through the night but we will definitely be back!

A good place to have some drinks with friends and good food too!
Submitted Monday, July 14, 2008 - 1:41pm [Dine in]

My fiance and I went here on the weekend to celebrate my birthday with friends. The only bad part of our experience was that when we showed up and told them we had reservations for 15 people, no one knew what I was talking about, even though I spoke to one of the managers on the phone. But within 10 minutes we had our "reserved section". All of my friends came from Vancouver and Burnaby and were very happy with the portion and quality of food. Everything was very good. Yhe mushroom caps are HUGE! Our server always made sure everyone had enough drinks and that we were well taken care of. There is a patio at this pub so if you like to sit outside you definately could. Overall, a great place to meet some friends for some drinks and good food.

Fatburger111 Dunsmuir St, #105, Vancouver
A solid 50's diner style burger place
Submitted Monday, July 14, 2008 - 1:37pm [Dine in]

I think that a lot of people who go here for burgers expect to have the same kind of burger you would have gotten at Feenie's restaurant. The burgers here are your typical burgers but there is nothing wrong with them. My fiance and I both ordered a cheese burger, mine had fries, his had union rings. The burger had a lot of fresh toppings and there were enough onion rings and french fries for two people. This is a 50's diner people, it is not lumier or cin cin, so when eating there, don't try to review it like a 5 star restaurant. Good service, friendly and fast, the food was very hot, the lemonade was really good.

Boathouse Restaurant, The2770 Esplanade Ave, Port Moody
Very good food, quick service, gorgeous view!
Submitted Saturday, July 5, 2008 - 9:54pm [Dine in]

My fiance and I brought four of our close friends to the Boathouse for my birthday and it was our first time going to the new boathouse in Port Moody. It was July 1st and was extremely busy but we were sat within 10 minutes. Once we got to our table, we were given our menus and our server arrived shortly after to take our drink orders. Me and 3 of my other friends all ordered the Starburst Mojito (we were told it was created by one of the employees at the bar) it was fabulous! Very sweet though so if you do not like something sweet then maybe it is not a choice for you. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Penne (I do not eat fish, seafood or steak) but it had just the right touch of garlic and was nice and creamy. More chicken would have been great to see but it was great otherwise. my fiance had the King Crab legs and said they were very good, another friend had fish and chips and she said they were the best she has ever had, the other ordered a seafood chowder and barely ate all of it because of the amount of seafood in it, one of our friends ordered the steak and lobster and said his steak was perfect and the seafood was fresh, and another ordered a fish dish and he also really enjoyed his dish. We all loved our food immensly! It came to the table hot, fresh and very favourful. I would have liked some fresh pepper for my pasta, but I think our server forgot. I ordered a slice of cheesecake for dessert and the piece was enough for 3 people to eat from! The view is fabulous (great restaurant for a first date, or special occasion). We will definately be back!

Memphis Blues Barbeque House1465 W. Broadway, Vancouver
Good Food, A Busy Place, Overworked Staff
Submitted Monday, June 16, 2008 - 11:59am [Dine in]

I took my fiance there for fathers day and we were fortunate to go there before 4pm because it was already busy. This was our first time there. We ordered the combination platter which was only 42.00 and was worth every penny. There was a ton of meat on our platter and my fiance was in meat heaven! It is not a sit down and have a server come to your table establishment. You have to go up to the cashier, order your food, get your plates, silverware and grab a table before it is too late. You also have to grab your drinks and the food when it is up. My fiance and I had no problem with the fact that we had to get everything, but some people had their noses in the air. One man complained he didn't get any water when he asked for it, yet there were jugs of water nearby so I don't know what happened with that. The food was very good. I really enjoyed the coleslaw and fries. The potatoe salad was ok but no one goes there for that. The BBQ was the best we have ever had. The staff did look really stressed though and I think it was because they were not adequately staffed for fathers day. One of them was really pushy with the customers but I think that is because she was tired, stressed and probably hungry. We couldn't even finish our food, we took home 2 take out containers (you have to pack your own food as well, so be ready for that). Overall, a good place for BBQ, just don't expect to get the royal treatment, this is not an upscale dinning place. But if that doesn't bother you, and you are looking for great BBQ, than this is the place to go!

Sfinaki Taverna4061 Hastings St, Burnaby
First time with friends
Submitted Friday, June 13, 2008 - 11:41am [Dine in]

I lived in Burnaby North for 3 years and constantly drove by this little greek place and never went in. My fiance and I finally went there last month with friends of ours and were quite pleased. The decor needs to be updated, but the waitress sat us promplty and we were given menus. We ordered some appetizers and their hummus was absolutely amazing! I love garlic and there was a lot in it. My fiance had the lamb slouvaki which he said was good and I had the chicken slouvaki. The amount of food you get for the price you pay is really good. A great place to go for greek, I now drive from Port Moody to Sfinaki when I have a craving for greek.

Take Sushi4528 Hastings Street, Burnaby
The best sushi house.
Submitted Sunday, November 25, 2007 - 12:01am [Dine in]

If it wasn't for this sushi house in North Burnaby I do not know where my husband would go for Sushi. My husband says the sushi is unbelievable here and you must try the house roll , the "take roll". The owner is super nice and always greats you when you come in. The restaurant is very clean and they have tried their best with the decor. This is not a fine dining restaurant but their service and food is excellent. I do not eat sushi but I LOVE their chicken teriyaki, it is always hot, fresh, and comes on a bed of rice with lots of vegetables. Their yam(sweet potatoe) tempura is always hot, fresh and very good. This is definately the place to go for sushi, chicken teriyaki as well as sweet potatoe tempura. If you have not made it there yet, you do not know what you are missing! A definate gem!

De Dutch Pannekoek House6651 East Hastings, Burnaby
my first time, not bad!
Submitted Thursday, June 22, 2006 - 10:34pm [Dine in]

It was my first time ever to a De Dutch restaurant. I just moved here from Ontario and we don't really have a whole lot if any of these places. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast for breakfast and it was really good, not greasy at all. I found the prices to be a little expensive and the weird thing was that the breakfast came with a salad? That is sooooo weird! So I paid the extra 1.50 for a fruit salad. Otherwise, rather good
