bad service

the food was absolutelly delicious. the waiters and waitresses very nice as well. the manager very abnoxious, rude and impolite. if he can't do the job than stay home. very little staff for a full house private party. this manager, which name starts with D, should not be dealing with anybody. when asked qustions about the food, he responed like he has very angry and without any respect for people.

They definitely do not appreciate regular customers. Sashimi and sushi was old and since we could not eat it, we were told that we are waisting food and made us pay regular price for it. They could use some nicer and friendlier staff. The Miso soup was extremelly salty and we had to ask many times for tea before we received any. We will look for another place that welcomes regular customers and appreciates our business.

excellent food. very fresh and i have to admit a little too big portions. and doggy bags are a must. they can accomodate anybody that has food alergies, because all the food is made fresh. all the pasta soses are made right there. the only thing that bothered me, was the way the waitress was cleaning the tables. she used too much windex, and the air was so poluted of windex smell. i did not appreciate it too much. they should not use such strong cleaners while you eat.

they must clean up. fries are too well done. burgers come in cold, and service is terrible. too busy of a location, too little servers, and the quality has come down. floors are dirty and the kitchen must do better. try other locations till they do better in this one.

amazing. very clean, fast service, and very fresh food. all cooked well, and very nice displayed on the plates. i would recommend it to all. very nicely decorated, depending on what holiday is. an all you can eat worth the money. lots of free parking. even the washrooms are extremelly clean, with plastic covers on the seats.

excellent food. very fresh and lots of choices that can't be found in many japanese restaurants. good selections of wines and sake.the food comes to table in a variety of modern plates and it's very fresh. a little too pricy, but considering their location, well...they can still drop the price. private rooms are also available.
patio is open in the summer and the view makes the dinner become a little romantic. free secured underground parking, which is great for downtown vancouver. at the entrance you are greeted in japanese and most of the staff is japanese. worth going again.

Change needed...

waited too long to make changes. now that the renovations are done, feels too cold, all is black and doesn't look like a Japanese restaurant. food is too expensive, and tastes more like a Canadian style Japanese food. the staff is not very friendly, and doesn't make you fell welcome. wine and sake variety is pretty good. very clean, but then again they just finished renovations. some recipes are definitely not Japanese. hard to find parking.
also the jazz band has to go. not the right place for such music.

not to much choice....
Submitted Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 6:04pm [Dine in]

not too much food variety. very slippery floors, and the garbage man just picked up the garbage and rolled it out while we were coming back with food on our plates. if this buffet should be any closer to what a casino resort buffet should be, than it is far away from reality. the hotel is good, but the food, bad. too pricy for the food selection. even the sushi rice was cold, as if it was done the day before. if you have any food alergies, the sef can't help you. like they couldn't help me. lots of improvemnt needed. brunch is better, but in any case be prepared to wait 2 hours to be seated.

don't go if you have a party with more than four guests. if your party has 20 people, be prepared to wait at least one hour for the food, which will come cold, and overdone. the salmon was burned and dry. the steaks, burned as well and the potatoes seemed to have been done the day before. the front of the table received welcoming basket of bread, while the other had to wait. by the time the end of the table received their food, the people seating at the front already finished eating.. too many people on the dance floor, and too many people in the restaurant at one time. i wonder if the restaurant is following the fire department guidelines, in the maximum occupancy for the place. some tables were placed on the dancing floor, and even at the entrance of the washrooms. are they so desperate for business? those people should eat for free. prices are too high for the location, and the quality of the food. for the same price you can enjoy good food downtown. very few waitresses, and very unprofessional. long tables, as if you are in a school cafeteria, not a restaurant. bottom line, don't go if you don't want to be stepped on your toes.
