Absolute WORST customer service
Submitted Sunday, June 19, 2011 - 6:43pm [Dine in]

I have eaten at Tomokazu a few times and they have never had the best customer service but we went there because the food was ok for the price. I went there last night for an early Father's Day dinner with some family and I have never been so appalled by their customer service in my life. There were 9 of us and they sat us at a table more fit for maybe 6 people. They sat us in the area where you have to take your shoes off and it smelled so bad. It was disgusting and made some of us already lose out appetite. We asked them four times if they could move us to a bigger table but they just ignored us and walked away. We ordered a lot of food since there were so many of us but the table was so small that very quickly there was no room for any more plates on our table. They started to pile plates on top of each other (which is extremely unsanitary) and when my cousin asked if they could either slow down the food or place the food on the side of the bench we were sitting at, the lady yelled at her and said that the bench was dirty, quickly tossed the plates on top of other plates on our table, and left. Every time they would bring our food or take something away, they would spill something on someone or basically chuck plates at our table. Once the waitress spilled water on the bench, didn't bother to clean it up or let us know that she spilled, and my cousin moved and accidentally sat in it and ruined her dress. We ordered some sake and were trying to decide what size to get and the manager (he is the WORST) was standing there yelling for us to hurry up and make up our minds. After a couple more incidents of rude behaviour from the staff, we finally ask for our bill. When she brings the bill she says that we are wasting too much food....there was literally 2 chicken wings and maybe 5 pieces of sushi left between the 9 of us. She told us we had to eat all of the sushi before we could pay. When I finally went to go pay, I was set on not tipping them at all because of how insanely rude they were. When I got my receipt from the manager, he had the nerve to say, "You know that this price does not include tip." I said, "Yes, I know. But you were all extremely rude." He did not say anything so we all left. It was not until later that I find out my uncle was still putting on his shoes when one of the staff came up to him and started YELLING at him saying that he has to tip because we were so many people and spent so much money. He was so frustrated that he just gave her some money to shut her up.

The food was mediocre at best and the horrible customer service made it worse.

Needless to say I will NEVER be going here ever again and will tell everyone I know to never dine here as well. I would rather pay more money somewhere else and be treated like respected customers.
