Amazing - this place should be on the Food Network!

I originally saw this restaurant featured on Groupon. It looked sooo interesting and good. But I originally hesitated and went online to see their reviews. I went to urban spoon and saw 30-something "like it" ratings! So I had to do it. I think this family is genius, and have done a great job at a great concept for a restaurant. Signage and location is not on their side, but the decor inside is amazing - it really makes you feel like you're in Bolivia. The little touches and details make all the difference. I would totally go there as a destination, out of my way to have their great food. The family is super nice, and explain things wonderfully when you want to order. The son just graduated from culinary school so the food is the real deal AND it is all home-cooking style and everything is fresh. Even the appetizer was baked fresh for us.

They have this really neat tamarind drink that is like nothing I've ever tasted before.
I highly recommend this place. I would totally go back - in fact I keep thinking about how I want to take people there!

I told the owner this place could totally be featured on a Food Network show like Diners Drive ins and Dives. It would be so awesome if they were on TV - they deserve the credit.

Our new sushi treasure
Submitted Sunday, February 19, 2012 - 2:12pm [Dine in]

Normally my family likes to go to "all-you-can-eat" sushi places because we used to think that's where we got the most bang for our buck. After visiting Sushi Tengoku, we were proven TOTALLY wrong.

We LOVED our servers, who were super nice to us, and the guy taking our order let us know that 1 dinner order was going to be A LOT of food, and advised us against getting two (wasn't that nice of him?). He was totally right. Dish after dish, after dish came pouring on to our table, and this wasn't cheap dry, end-of-the-day type of sushi. It was beautifully hand crafted, with a lot of care taken into presentation and unique taste. The salad dressing was scrumptious, the sauces, the way it was prepared - everything tasted so good. I felt like I was at some kind of celebrity chef food tasting challenge!

We thought the bill would come to a lot, but in the end, our super full tummies cost less than if we had gone to an all-you-can-eat sushi place.

I totally would recommend this restaurant. Even the ambiance was classic and nice, and so modern, well decorated.

The only fault was that no one was there to greet us at the door, probably because they were so busy...or maybe they don't have a hostess? So it was awkward at first, someone handing us a menu as they walked out of the kitchen, then leaving, then another person helping us....but all in all, the staff is very conscious of their customers' needs and don't ignore you. Even if it wasn't our server, if we tagged someone down, they would jump to help us right away - they wouldn't just say "oh I'll get your server for you". I was very impressed by that.

Awesome, awesome place - we loved it!
