How the mighty have fallen...
Submitted Friday, November 14, 2008 - 2:27am [Dine in]

This place use to be solid... after a two year hiatus from this place, we decided to head back. Boy have the place gone down hill. Service is still solid but the food is not as good as it use to; not to mention their menu selection is so limited now and many items are not available. I guess they lost a lot of their chefs to other izakayas or they went back home. If you want good food, go somewhere else. If you want to gawk at the pretty ladies or just have good drinks, I guess that's still okay. I haven't tried the one on 4th Avenue yet. Though I'm hesitant... so many other places that are better. Justin, you need to get your ass in gear... you're losing customers.

Good, fresh sushi
Submitted Monday, September 8, 2008 - 1:15am [Dine in]

This is the place to go for sushi in Kerrisdale because that's all it really is: a sushi bar. I love this place. Regardless of its cramped and drafty interior, quiet servers, I love their selection of fresh fish. Prices are a bit on the pricier side but for the selection and freshness, it is good value in my opinion. I usually like sitting at the counter as you get to see the chefs work and see what kind of fish selection they have for that day. I always order their seafood salad... it is recommended.

This place also does take-out and if you call your order 2 hours ahead of time, you'll get 5% off.

Can't believe it's so popular

First thing, if you want to try this izakaya then you must make a reservation. Even then you have to wait. It is ridiculous. The food is alright; not something that will wow you but it is well done and decent-sized portions. Other than that... this place has nothing going for it. Their servers are slow and rude, the place is poorly ventilated, and the price you pay for the food is totally not worth it. Poor dining experience.

Sadly, this is the izakaya that we go to when we want to stop our izakaya-itch when in Richmond. What does that say about the rest?!

A hidden surprise indeed
Submitted Monday, September 8, 2008 - 1:00am [Dine in]

So me and the miss were walking along Robson and stumbled upon this "hidden" izakaya on Jervis Street right besides the Creperie and Starbucks. We were actually heading to Kingyo but decided to give this place a try. All I can really say is that we were pleasantly surprised... from the staff, to the decor and the food was fantastic.

The only really downside is the price... if you like to eat and drink a lot then the bill can climb really fast. All in all, a fine dining establishment for you izakaya lovers. I think I will be going back.
