Good Food
Submitted Sunday, May 29, 2011 - 12:46am [Dine in]

Went there tonight with 3 friends. Nice and clean spacious place, mostly booths. Even though we didn't have reservations on a saturday night, the restaurant was almost full when we got there at 6pm but we were seated right away. We ordered the Combination dinner for 4 people, $89, comes with huge plate of raw bbq meat, beef ribs, beef, chicken, pork. a plate of fried chicken wings(about 8 pieces), a noodle dish(japchae), 5 different sides dishes, 4 rice, and 4 bowl of beef broth soup. and also 4 bowl of dessert(tasted just like sugar water) It was a lot of food. and got some left over to take home. The food was very good. We got the waiter to change the grill midway thru as the grill was getting too burnt. Service was great, as soon as we press the little button for service, they were there in a couple of seconds. There were people waiting for table when we were leaving. We would go back soon.

Nice Tasting menu

Went there tonight. Small cozy place, upstairs, on Davie Street. First time there, had their 6 course tasting menu($35 each person). We weren't sure if we'll be full as we read that this is a tapas place. The 6 course we had tonight include:a seared scallop on fennel and capers(delicious),seafood stew(ok),pasta with truffle and cream sauce(to die for, had to savour the taste by eating one noodle at a time as also it wasn't that much but OMG so good), trout with chorizo(nice),4 slices of striploin with veggie and a poach egg(weird combination but it was pretty good too except there wasn't too much flavour on the beef) and dessert was some cake with rhubarb which is light and quite good. We also had the $15 popular sangria made with red wine, although I wanted the white wine but they were out of it tonight. Since it was only the two of us, we had about 3 glasses each. Enjoyed it. The waitress as nice and friendly and came and check with us from time to time. Overall, it was a great experience to try so many different dishes. A bit pricey but was worth it. Will like to go back to try their other dishes soon.

Not Worth a Second Visit
Submitted Saturday, March 12, 2011 - 1:04am [Dine in]

Went there tonight with 3 other friends. Got there at 5:45pm(Friday night). Not too busy. Very small restaurant, decent and clean place. We each order a cocktail $6 each, not bad for the price but tasted just ok. Had stuffed chicken wing for appetizer, it says 4 pieces on menu but when the order came out, it was actually just two wings cut into four pieces, was good but expected more for $11. Also order 4 other dishes, green curry chicken which was spicy, Pad Thai(not good),curry duck was really good, and mix seafood with vegi and another seafood dish. A bowl of coconut rice was $4 and Jasmine rice was $3. It seems like all the dishes that we ordered have lots of sauces, too much of it, actually. All the dishes were around $15 to $18 which I though was kind of expensive. Our total bill came to $140. Overall, the food was just okay way overpriced. I guess it's in Yaletown, maybe that's why it's so expensive?

Expensive But Good Food

Went there tonight, 3 of us. After going there two weeks ago for a birthday banquet, I kept thinking of having their smoke tea chicken again. It was actually very expensive for the whole chicken $30 but it was good but not sure if worth that much. Had a fruit and prawn dish, $16, delicious. and Chinese Broccoli with slice pork, $15. which was good too. Service was great. Each waiter was nice, one even pour tea for us which surprised us since we usually have to pour it ourselves. Overall service is good, food was good but for the value, we may have to go there only once a while. Will have to try dim-sum there one day.

Went there tonight, five of us. Three of us had roast lamb. and one of us had chicken&lamb souvlaki 15.95 and the other had chicken&lamb wrap, I think about 15.95 also. The roast lamb was on special for 13.95 today, so we asked if we could use the ET coupon for that, the elderly waitress said can not combine coupon with special. So we asked if we could pay full price for two roast lamb and use a coupon for that and get one the special price and use 2nd coupon for the other two dishes. She said okay. We had two coupon's for $10 off 2nd plate. But when the bill came, she charged us FULL price 17.95 for each roast lamb and just apply the coupons to the total bill. She can see I wasn't too happy about that. She only compensate by giving us 3 coupons $8 each, to use for next time we go there and wasn't going to adjust the bill. I am not impress as everyone gets this coupons anyways when they go there so nothing special about it unless you want to go again.

The souvlaki is overprice with just two sticks of meat on it with 3 pieces of meat on each one. The roast lamb had a good flavour but not tender enough. One of us had a glass of wine, for 5.99, I guess that's cheaper then most restaurants. The greek salad was not cold enough and a bit oily.

Even with coupons, I think it's still over priced. Not sure if I want to go back anytime soon. Had better and cheaper at other Greek Restaurants.

Great Roast Lamb!

Went there tonight with the family. This place is not that big inside and gets filled pretty quick. Our server was very nice. The food came quick too.

We started with an appetizer calamari to share. It was good but they don't give you much for 7.95. Two of us had the roasted lamb, and one had the mix beef/lamb/chicken souvlaki and the other one had the baby back ribs. Don't order the baby back ribs, was dry and not that tasty, it's not a place for ribs. The souvlaki was just okay, a bit dry too but good flavour. Definitely go for the roasted lamb, it's so tasty and moist and tender. The two that didn't order the lamb had regretted their decision. Next time, everyone of us will just order the roasted lamb, it's that good.

My sister and I took my Mom there last Friday night for mother's day dinner. Made reservation for 7pm. There were only a few tables there. Not very busy for a Friday night. The waiter said that it's very busy on weekends. But since it wasn't busy, I guess we had good service. The waiter was nice but the two waitress was just okay. They got us stuff we needed. The price was great, for $18 per person and $8 for the soup base, there were lots of vegetable to choose from, and the slices of meat including beef/chicken/lamb/pork were very fresh and so were the prawns/oysters/dumplings/tofu/fish/noodles etc, so much selection. The meat came in large plate which I think could be smaller so it doesn't go to waste.

You have to make you you cook the food well so you don't get sick since everything is pretty much raw. The cooked food was good too including the deep fried chicken wings, sticking rice and deep fried wonton and more. We were so stuffed by the end of the night, we felt bad that we couldn't finished all the food we got, but the waiter was nice enough not charge us extra for it. We had a great time, we tipped them at least 20 percent. They were happy, they all wave to us when we left. Overall a good "all you can eat" place. I would go back again, just for the food.

We took our friend there for her 40th b-day tonight. The place is smaller then I thought and not too fancy. The 3 of us ordered the $38 tasting menu of the month. It came with a good size toss salad with 2 small pieces of smoked salmon, bit of shark fin and jelly fish with a special salad sauce, which is quite good. Next, came the soup, another good size soup, double boiled, has watercress and pork in it, very tasty soup. The next dish was half a lobster which was very flavorful. They also bought a small bucket of plastic gloves for you to wear to eat the lobster with, which we didn't use. Just weird eating food with gloves. Better to just give hot towel to wipe our hands after. The last dish was Kobe beef, small cubes,(very tender and mouthwatering)with Jasmine rice. Dessert was stuffed green bean fried sesame dumplings, which was just ok. The waitress recommend another dessert which was sticky rice with some other paste in it, $4 for that was not worth it and not good but one of friend liked it. Overall the dishes were great value for $38 each person(regular price was $68). The ambiance was medicore, could be a bit more classier to match their food. Service was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed our food so much, we'll be going back next week(another friend's b-day) to try their other set menu which is completely different for $39. Can't wait.

Went there tonight with 3 other friends. Ordered 4 dishes, green curry chicken-not bad, fried green been with beef-delicious, pineapple fried rice-very good, fried black cod with house sauce(taste like sweet and sour sauce)-mostly veggie and a thin slice of black cod, not worth the price of this dish. also had chicken satay as appetizer which was really good. Busy on Saturdays. Nice and clean restaurant. Service was quick with the food. But once we pause a bit from eating, waiter/waitress comes and ask if we're done.

Been there many times. Had good experience each time. Latest one was when we went there for lunch a few weeks back. I wanted to order the baked mussel(I usually ask for half clam) on a skillet but the waitress said they don't make it for lunch but she was nice enough to check with the kitchen to see if they would do it for us. They did. I was happy as I went there just for that dish, was so good. If you like mussel and clam, I really recommend it. Price is not cheap but this dish is so worth it(I think about $16). Nice view of North Shore.

Tasty Soup
Submitted Saturday, November 14, 2009 - 4:23pm [Dine in]

Went there today for lunch with my family. Almost all 8 of us had the noodle soup. Soup comes nice and hot, perfect on a cold day. Really warms you up. Soup come with lots of noodle but a bit more meat would be better but it's tasty. Lunch and dinner is the same menu. Different part of meat combination soup, eg. beef/flank/tripe/tendon etc. The place is spacious and service was fast enough. It was a quick and pleasant lunch overall.
