I went there for the first time today for lunch. The entire meal took 30min from the time we sat down until the time we got the bill, a great place to go if you don't have much time for lunch.
I've heard mixed review from my friends and family. Although I haven't had the chance yet to experience the authentic ramen in Japan, I feel that the quality is consistent with other Japanese ramen places in Vancouver (I'm thinking of the ramen places on Robson).
The pink decor is unusual, but promotes an ambiance that is quite different from other Asian noodle places.
Will I go back again...only if I happen to be in Richmond. Otherwise I'd hit the places on Robson instead.
This was my first time at any Mongolie Grill. The ambiance was very nice, our server was very attentive...superb job! I stayed on the conservative side for the meats, and tried some of their suggested sauce combinations. It was fantastic! My friends loved their meal too. My dish came out to about $8 before taxes, my friend's was close to $11, my other friend's dish was about $14. I used my entertainment coupon (2 for 1 entree, the complimentary entree had to be under $12). I was expecting the server to use my $8 meal as the complimentary entree, but she gave the $11 meal as the complimentary one! It was very nice of her to do that. Healthy food with great ambiance and quality! Will definitely visit again!
This was my first time here because it was conveniently located between downtown and SFU Burnaby, and it in the entertainment book. I had a dish with roast lamb, and it was VERY juicy and tender! The service was decent and quick. Great decor and it had a very homey feel to it.
Of all the Chinese cafe-styled restaurants that serve breakfast, Honolulu Cafe has the most selection at a superb price. I go there with my mother for breakfast quite often, and was never disappointed. Your choice of a bowl of noodles in soup, a sandwich or omlette, and an HK styled coffee or milk tea comes out to $4.75 before tax. The food is excellent for that value. =)
I read the rave reviews about Orchid Delight in the Province this summer, and wanted to try it out. I went with a group of 4 last Friday, and was stuffed after the roti, four dishes and the yummy ginger/coconut rice! We had the Hainanese chicken (nowhere else in Vancouver compares to the way it's prepared at Orchid Delight!), Sambal Prawns (very juicy), Char bee hoon, and a plate of veggies. We wanted to have the Ice Chendol but they ran out of grass jelly.
Will definitely return to try more dishes!
I was there on May 17th for dinner, and I have to say that the food is much better than the last time I was there (August 2005)! Our party stayed for almost 4 hours in total, and just kept ordering food when the latecomers joined us.
The service wasn't too great, as we had to keep bugging the servers to refill our water/tea.
I've been to OM several times, and all of them have been great experiences. Their vast menu offer both Chinese/Asian food and Western vegetarian food. Their imitation meat dishes are superb! I personally enjoy their imitation baked seafood w/cheese on rice. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu.
