Have been twice here for dinner after getting brunch one weekend in the fall. The servers were very friendly and welcomed us back.
Twice we went on weekend evenings (one Friday one Saturday) for the Southern BBQ menu. The Saturday night was very busy but the servers were very pleasant. The food was amazing. Hushpuppies were to die for and the fried chicken was awesome. Portions were huge. We had so much food leftover that we were able to make another meal out of it. Great value! The last time we were there, the chef came out to talk to us so we were overall pleased with the place and will definitely be back! Great neighbourhood and local feel to the place.

This is on my tops list for places to eat in Vancouver. The staff and chef Sada are very friendly and welcoming. The food is authentic japanese, with many repeat customers from Vancouver and abroad. The menu is not overly diverse, but if you do not see something you like, ask, as they can often prepare things for you.
The spicy tuna roll (formerly spicy tuna z) is incredible and a must order. I usually ask what fish they have fresh and order fresh nigiri. They frequently have otoro, akami and chuo toro which is a real treat. On my last visit chef prepared us a foie gras sushi which was not on the menu, but absolutely amazing - I thought it would be too rich but it was perfectly balanced with a mango glaze. If this appeals to you, ask him to prepare one for you.
I would characterize this restaurant as being on the expensive side - I expect to drop $40 minimum at each visit so its not somewhere I go every week. But the quality and service are outstanding, so it is never too long before I return again. Reservations often required especially in the summer as the beach crowds descend to the area.

I live about a block from this restaurant and have frequented it several times, generally for brunch on Saturdays. The eggs benny are consistently amongst the best I have ever had. I have brought many friends and never has anyone left disappointed. I have never had a bad meal there.
I can understand how some people may not 'get' this restaurant as it is a little quirky. Frequently busy, so at times you may get the impression of aloofness, but to me its all part of the ambiance of this traditional french cafe. The staff and chefs are friendly and the place is very comfortable. Just take it all in and enjoy the experience, because the food is amazing and well priced for the quality and quantity.
Reservations definitely needed for dinner as the place is always busy at night, which is a shame.
