Very Enjoyable
Submitted Thursday, May 12, 2011 - 12:36pm [Dine in]

Took the wife to the casino and noticed the new izakaya so it was a no-brainer. Free parking! First thing I noticed when entering the restaurant is the beautiful interior. Hundreds of origamis hang above us with subtle lighting. A very nice dining atmosphere. We had the tuna tataki which was very fresh. Then came the two fried items: Sansho Chicken Karaage and Basil Mayo Crispy Shrimp. I enjoyed the chicken a lot as it is actually thick chicken breasts covered with batter that had rice krispies. The Mayo Shrimp were served with basil mayo sauce which was very unique and enjoyable. My wife had the AAA Beef Carpaccio which I did not try. She said she loved it which was apparent as she finished it quite fast. We then finished off with the Dynamite Explosion roll which was also great. Supposedly all their rolls are made with rice that mixed from 7 different types of grains. Must be quite healthy.
Overall I had a great experience. Definitely a great addition to the casino area. Will come back next time when I visit Grand Villa.

Nice place for Dim Sum
Submitted Wednesday, April 6, 2011 - 7:47pm [Dine in]

Food: Me and the kids really enjoyed the fried dishes: shrimp spring rolls, deep fried taro, and deep fried bean curd. Shrimp spring rolls were definitely the highlight of the meal. The combination of shrimp, crispy batter, and garlic was lovely. I believe this dish is not available for most other dim sum places. We also had shrimp dumpling, pork dumpling and shark fin dumpling. They don’t actually put shark in the shark fin dumpling; it actually had imitation shark and shrimp and it was still good. For dessert we had layer cakes which were on par with other dim sum establishments.

Service: Even though it was pretty busy, the waiters were still pretty fast. The kids got their ice water promptly and when I asked for dessert recommendations the waiter was patient and helpful.

Interior: Very spacious so ideal for bringing kids. The red chandeliers were nice.

Overall a nice dim sum experience. I heard they have king Alaskan crabs for dinner, so surely I will come back to try.

This place always have huge lineups which is great because you know that the food is constantly fresh unlike some other vendors where their food sits under light bulbs for hours and hours. You first grab a plate and pick the wide assortment of veggies including carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, and zucchini. Then there are the meats: chicken/beef teriyaki, or marinated chicken/beef/pork. Finally the 6 different sauces including oyster, soy, garlic, ginger, black bean, and chili. If you are a student or busy worker, this is a good place to come and replenish the essential nutrients. U-Grill is good for You!!!

This is the place for incredible bennies. They are a variety of benedict choices including mushrooms, crab meat, salmon, and spinach. I always get the standard with ham. The half pancake and half french toast is a good order to share if you are with lots of people. Trust me, the amount of content is tremendous. Seating arrangement is a bit tight, but ultimately it's worth it because of the bennies. Get here early or else there will be a line. You might be able to get the patio seats.

For under 10 dollars, the Lemon Grass Chicken comes with a generous portion of rice, a big salad, and 2 wide pieces of chicken steak. What more can you ask for? Now, obviously the level of cleaness is not on par to your average restaurant, but hey, no risk no reward. I have been there for years and never have I had any health issues. If you like sports then this is a good place because they always have TSN and Sportsnet on.
