Our new favourite Italian restaurant!!

My husband and I are fairly new to the Clayton/Cloverdale area. We have been to many different restaurants in the vicinity and by far Aaron's is our favourite. Their pasta sauces are freshly made which you can tell when you take your first bite. And their pizza....yum! The only downfall we experienced was we went back recently and they didn't have their delicious tiramisu that we had enjoyed just weeks before :( Apparently, they have a few menu items that only get made when the chef decides to put it on the menu!! So, we will just have to keep going back and hopefully it will be at the right time. The service has always been great every time we have been. The servers are very friendly and attentive. One piece of advice... make reservations! They are not that big and fill up quickly, even during the week. I highly recommend Aaron's if you are looking for good Italian (and some Greek) food at a reasonable price.
Good for groups

Went there last night with a group. The only problem we had with the place was the noise. As it is one open room, it was quite noisy during the dinner rush. The food was good, a little smaller portions than some Asian restaurants serve. Its best to order a bunch of plates and share. The service was great and very attentive. We never had an empty glass.
I would recommend this place again, as we had a great time.

I've been going to the Bear since they first opened and I have to say that its one of the best pubs on the North Shore. The food is always good with a wide selection for both vegetarians as well as carnivores. One of the tastiest items on their menu is their chowder. Yummmm!! The service was good and prompt. There is not usually a seat left in the place if there is a hockey game on, but hey, what do you expect, its a pub!! I would recommend the Bear to everyone and have done so.
Not the same!!

I used to go to Wally's with my family and get their burgers and chocolate shakes. We went a few weeks ago and they no longer were serving milkshakes. They were never great milkshakes, but they weren't awful. We went back recently and the milkshakes are back, but at now DOUBLE the price!!! Its not like they were bigger or better (they weren't), its just that now the family who owns the place has to pay for the new shake machine. It was very disappointing. I agree with the other reviews, its definitely gone downhill. Which is too bad as I know it used to be great back in the day.
Bring back the crab & artichoke dip!!!

Went there on a Saturday afternoon. The sun was out and the patio was open and packed (as usual)!! We ordered the new cheddar and spinach dip that has now replaced the crab and artichoke dip. All I can say is 'yuk'. It just tasted like a bowl of melted cheddar cheese. I have come to expect that Cactus Club's food would be of higher quality. Very disappointed. I did mention this disappointment to the manager and she took it off the bill. I got the impression that I wasn't the first to complain about it.
The service was not the usual promptness either. Our server didn't even ask how our meal was or come around afterwards to give us the bill. We also noticed the table beside ours was getting the same treatment. They must have been training servers or just having an 'off' day as this was not a common occurance on other visits.
We will be back as we still love the food. I just hope they will have heard enough feedback about the new dip and bring back the old one.
