Ferris' Oyster Bar & Grill536 Yates St., Victoria
Best place in Victoria
Submitted Friday, December 28, 2007 - 12:35pm [Dine in]

Every time we go out to dinner with someone the first question we ask is: have you ever been to Ferris's? If not, there's no question about where we want to go. Reasonably priced, good service (although we may get spoiled because they know us from being so often!). There's so many delicious things on their huge menu that you can find someone for everyone's tastes. You must try the brownie for dessert. Best. Ever!

Kaz Japanese Restaurant1619 Store Street, #100, Victoria
My new favourite sushi place
Submitted Friday, December 28, 2007 - 12:24pm [Dine in]

I tried Kaz for the first time last week and I think I'm going to have to go back soon! They had the best spicy tuna rolls I've had in Victoria and the service and ambience were also excellent. The tempura was also excellent and the sampling I had of my partner's teryaki beef was yum as well!

Camille's45 Bastion Square, Victoria
Excellent fine dining
Submitted Friday, December 28, 2007 - 12:21pm [Dine in]

My first experience with Camille's was for a three course special and it was seriously the Best food, service (and wine!) I've ever had in my life. It was cosy, romantic and so delicious I was savouring the meal for days.

When I went back on a less special night the food was still excellent, but the service and the ambience were not quite so fantastic. Still one of my favourite places for special occasions!

Spice Jammer, The852 Fort St., Victoria
Hurrah for curry
Submitted Friday, December 28, 2007 - 12:17pm [Dine in]

I recently tried Spicejammer for the first time. Initially I had been put off by the place by their "curry in a hurry" banner (it made me think of "hurrying" to the bathroom) but I'm very glad I gave it a try!

The food was delicious- spicy and savoury in just the right way. Their vindaloo reminded me of my very first indian experience with curry in the UK. The service was Impeccable and although the ambience wasn't amazing I liked the spacing of the tables and the light-wrapped trees.

Bent Mast, The512 Simcoe St, Victoria
Worst restaurant experience ever
Submitted Friday, December 28, 2007 - 12:12pm [Dine in]

My partner and I have vowed never to return to the Bent Mast after the nightmare service experience we had there. The waitress was rude from start to finish: snapping at us for every little thing, accusing us of lying, telling us everything we wanted to order from the menu was out (which may have been true, but she certainly wasn't apologetic or even civil about it) and then ignoring us for the rest of our meal which was eaten in tense silence because we were so shaken by the service.

Admittedly this was several years ago, but the experience stuck with us so strongly we can't bring ourselves to return.

Casa Tequila535 Yates Street, 103, Victoria
Mmmmexican
Submitted Friday, December 28, 2007 - 11:43am [Dine in]

I'm not sure when some of the other posters went to casa tequila or what was going on. Perhaps they were expecting tex mex and got more traditional food that they weren't expecting?

I have been there several times and was extremely impressed with both the service and the food both times. The taco salad I had the first time knocked the socks off of any other taco salad I've ever had! I personally love their home-made chips and their guacamole, although not the westernized version, is fantastic! The food is very similar to the other location, Los Taquitos although I actually like the new menu better. It's a shame they're in such an awkward spot because they could really blossom downtown if people knew they were there.
