Too Noisy!
Submitted Saturday, May 18, 2013 - 1:23pm [Dine in]

This place is so loud the noise of people's conversations is louder than the TV's or music! You cannot talk to a person at your table without yelling. The menu is terrible. No suitable appetizers so we settled for wings and fries. (Vaporized vinegar on the fries--no big deal--very little difference to regular fries) The main course menu doesn't offer much either. Our group had the Beef Wellington, Yorkshire Beef Dip and the Angus Sirloin. All the food was good, but nothing to rush back for. When we got outside our ears were ringing. We won't be returning.

First time and loved it!
Submitted Sunday, January 22, 2012 - 10:40am [Dine in]

This was our first time at Little Billy's and loved it. A friend lives nearby and goes regularly. We finally took her advice and went on a Friday night. There were four of us and we made a reservation as their website suggested. It's a good thing as there are only 50 seats and it was pretty much full at 7pm. The ambiance was very comfortable and you felt very relaxed sitting there. Upon arrival we were greeted immediately by both the bartender and hostess (Owner?). Every single person was extremely friendly and the hostess checked back with us 3 or 4 times during the evening. All though the menu had many good offerings we decided on 2 platters for 2. One was a seafood platter for $85 which included lobster, jumbo prawns (Huge), scallops, crab, calamari and more. The other was a Greek platter for $65 which included prawns, lamb, 3 types of skewers, rice, potatoes and Greek salad. It was a feast and we loved everything. What really impressed us was any server, not just our own (who was excellent) who walked by would pick up dirty dishes or offer to re-fill drinks. It's a real team effort and they are all very friendly. I would highly recommend Little Billy's to anyone who likes great food and great service!

It's always good...always!
Submitted Friday, December 16, 2011 - 10:28pm [Dine in]

So why am I bothering to submit a review. It's always good. Great in fact. I have been going to the Keg for over 30 years. I think I've been to every location. I have never had a bad meal.

The food is always good. There are no surprises. This is the best place for steaks. Just popped into Coquitlam for a casual meal with a friend. I had the shrimp cocktail (huge shrimp) and he had the escargot. You have to have the escargot! We had the prime rib (12oz) and the Sirloin Neptune. Fantastic food. Fantastic service.

No surprises. You can always count on the Keg!

Not really worth the wait!
Submitted Monday, December 12, 2011 - 7:15pm [Dine in]

Went on a Saturday night and as they don't take reservations we expected a wait. Checked in at 7pm and were delighted to find out only a 45 minute wait for our party of 4. At 8:00pm they said it would only be another 15 minutes but there was another party of 4 ahead of us. Decided to wait it out at Milestones bar and have a couple of drinks. They finally called our cel phone and we were seated at 9:30. (2-1/2 hours! Not 45 Minutes!) This place is too small not to take reservations. There is no where to wait, sitting or standing. Unless you want to wait on the street. They apologized for the wait and gave us a free glass of champagne. Not a big deal but we appreciated the effort.

The appetizers were very good. Two of us had the caesar salad which had pork croutons and the other two had the Pea Soup. The meals arrived which included Veal Piccata, Striploin and Beef Short Ribs. All the main entrees were good, not amazing, but good.

Our waitress made herself scarce and twice forgot to bring drinks that were ordered. Overall, the quality of the food was good, but nothing spectacular. Definitely not worth a 2.5 hour wait! I'd only return if they start taking reservations.

Maybe if you were stranded in a snow storm you'd eat here!

Went on a Friday night with an Entertainment coupon. Interior decor desperately needs an upgrade. Pretty dead for a Friday only 3 or 4 tables. The lounge was empty. The host/owner?/waiter reminded me of Basil Fawlty. Slow service. Very mediocre food that they pile on (large portions). I guess they are trying to get rid of it. Asked another waitress for some bread. She was very snooty and said "I'll get your server". They seemed more concerned with room service and take out orders. They definitely cannot handle more than a couple of tables at a time. Won't be going back.

Pleasantly Surprised
Submitted Saturday, October 8, 2011 - 12:18am [Dine in]

Avoided going here in the past but it was my friends pick. The booth was quite small for 4 people and we felt like we were on display. Had a fantastic server (Jennifer) and she made the night. Very fun person with a positive energy and lots of recommendations. We started with the Saganaki and Escargot appetizers both of which were very good. For main courses we had the 16oz Rib Eye which was very tender. It should be for $37--meat only! Two others at the table had a steak and crab leg special which was also very good. Overall, the food was very good but a little pricey. Nothing that would stop us from returning. It was like going to a restaurant downtown without the trip!

We tried going to this restaurant on a Saturday night at 7pm. The host looked at as like "How dare you come here without a reservation", he could seat us at 9pm at the earliest. Okay, so we left. The next Friday night we called for a reservation. They don't take reservations between 6 and 8 pm. (So how could we have had one at 7pm Saturday?)He took our reservation for 5:45 and would hold the table until 6pm. We showed up at 6 and he said he didn't have record of the reservation (We just made it at 5:30!) but he reluctantly gave us a table. We had a table beside the bar where all the waiters are coming and going. It took 10 minutes before we were offered a drink or menus. The selections of wine by the glass is poor at best. The menu is a contradiction. Is this a fine dining restaurant or a pizza place? I don't think they know. Most people at our table ordered pizza which was mediocre at best. My teenager did not finish hers. How bad does pizza have to be that a teenager won't eat it? Another person at our table had Cioppino which had no flavour. Our waiter obviously had no experience in serving or with the menu. He couldn't even identify the pizzas as they were put on the table. They also have a big screen which was playing silent movies. It was a Canuck playoff night. I think most people would rather have the game on. All of the above coupled with no parking anywhere near the place will insure we will not be returning.
