Milli's Pita Pizza418 6th St, #110, New Westminster
Too... all over the place
Submitted Tuesday, July 10, 2012 - 7:28pm [Dine in]

Milli's was a weird experience. The restaurant seems to lack an idenity. It is Lebanese selling itself as Mexican... serving an Italian food item (among an area with seemingly a dozen other pizza chains).

The food, quality wise, is quite good---the falafel especially so.

Service however is incredibly slow; and, at the heat/peak of lunch time, it is very dead---every neighbouring restaurant is packed with people. On one particular occasion, the sole employee was a friend of the owners who didn't know her way through the kitchen. A one minute sausage sandwich took over half an hour for the woman to prepare and no one else customer-wise was in there.

The decor, like the restaurant's identity, is also mixed and a tad tacky. I should also note, for a Lebanese establishment (in theory) it neither serves a good Arabic coffee or any traditional Arabic or Levantine tea I'm accustomed to.

In essence, Milli's could use work.

King Mahal Restaurant4051 Hastings Street, Burnaby
Excellent Chow!
Submitted Monday, June 11, 2012 - 10:16pm [Dine in]

The King Mahal has to be my favourite Indian restaurant in all of Vancouver. The food is consistently outstanding, beautifully spiced, perfectly portioned, and well priced. I highly recommend their lamb korma paired with the garlic naan bread----to die for. It is a family run business with great personality's for delivery people and phone staff. Spread the word!

Gilmore Restaurant4015 Hastings Street, Burnaby
Solid and Retro!
Submitted Monday, June 11, 2012 - 10:06pm [Dine in]

The Gilmore Restaurant reminds me of what Molly's Reach on the Beachcomber's looked like back in the 1980s, a true greasy spoon. The dated decore gives the place this fantastic old charm that seems to have died in the rest of Vancouver. Both the Chinese and North American dishes are consistently solid in quality---my two favourites being the beef dip and the chicken curry. Prices are very reasonable, and the owners are a mom and pop couple who happen to be the sweetest and most customer-devoted people you could ever meet.

Not So Hot...
Submitted Monday, June 11, 2012 - 7:08pm [Delivery]

A very poor Szechuan restaurant. All service staff has very limited English-language skills as well as poor, rather cold telephone manner. Most dishes tend to use/have the lowest quality of everything---vegetables, meats, spicing, etc. Noodle dishes are mediocre at best; chow mein dishes in particular are oily and lack flavour. A minimum of $28 worth of product must be purched before house delivery is allowed. The restaurant itself is rather dirty and void of decore.

Over all, too high a price, too low a quality.
