Decent $2 burger!
Submitted Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 4:30pm [Dine in]

Three of us girls ate here last Tuesday. It happened to be their $2.00 burger night, so we all ordered that. The burgers and fries were decent. They came with raw onions, lettuce and tomato. They could have used a bit more sauce of some sort. Meat was well done and tasty. With 3 drinks and my burger my bill was only $14. What a deal! The place has just opened. I don't know what it was called before, but it could use some spiffing up.

Bread to die for!
Submitted Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 4:10pm [Dine in]

Three of us had lunch here last week. It was very near the end of their lunch service but we never felt we had to rush out. My friends had two different salads that they really enjoyed. I had trouble choosing between one of the specials...black linguini with ahi tuna or penne arrabiata. I had the penne because I felt like something spicy. It was the best arrabiata I've ever had...packed with black and green olives and capers. But my favourite part is their bread that they serve with balsamic and olive oil. I think they must make the bread on premises. I loved it!

Great squid
Submitted Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 4:04pm [Dine in]

Four of us ate here on Sat. afternoon. The place was quite full. We ordered wonton soup (the wontons were all shrimp...very nice). Broth was okay. We also had an order or gai lan in oyster sauce. It was okay but could have been cut up a bit...hard to eat with chopsticks. We also had chow mein with brisket. The noodles are crispy variety...quite tasty. My favorite dish was the squid deep fried with pepper. Yummy.

Great lamb chops
Submitted Sunday, October 21, 2007 - 2:11pm [Dine in]

We at here early Sat. evening. We were in a hurry so only ordered a main course. I had lamb chops (4 large meaty ones) and my friend had the calamari dinner. My lamb chops were excellent (I think they were $21.95). I really liked the seasoning and they were large and perfectly done. I also liked the potatoes. My meal also came with Greek salad and rice. Thmenu is very typical, but I thought it was very good value. The service was prompt and professional. By the time we left at 6:30 the place was full.....families and couples and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal. Average wine list.

Consistently Good

I've eaten at Marina Grill on many occasions and have always found the food and service to be very good. I had their Yacht Clubhouse yesterday....shrimp and crab on sourdough. It has to be one of the best seafood clubhouses in the lower mainland....huge and tasty. I've often had their hot scallop salad which is great and their halibut and chips are wonderful too. My friend always orders the papaya salad and raves about it. They've remodelled their lounge area and added a fireplace which was cozy on a wet, grey afternoon. Of course their outside deck it great in the summer.
They have many beers on tap...can't remember their wine list. Now they just need to spiff up their main dining room...it's time!

Had a good meal here last Sunday. The place was packed. The wine list has lots of choice. Shared a salad and we each had a different pasta dish. There's a good selection on the menu and several daily specials. They also have entertainment on Wednesdays. I'll be back.

Great Value and Selection
Submitted Wednesday, September 12, 2007 - 12:23pm [Dine in]

Five of us ate here yesterday for a family birthday after it had been recommended by a friend. I was a bit leary because of the very lengthy menu, There are 4 options....3 prix fixe ($20, 25 and 30) as well as a la carte. My husband chose the a la carte schnitzel and said it was fine...2 huge portions for 14.95. For appies we had blini with red caviar, stuffed mushroom caps, Greek salad and cheese stuffed puff pastries....all excellent. For mains we had bacon-wrapped tenderloin with lobster tail, a pasta dish and bison strogonoff. Everything was very tasty...but the lobster tail was a tad fishy. The prix fixe also included many options for dessert....we had the creme brulee special (awesome!), a cheesecake, hazelnut torte and a Russian cake. All of them were tasty. What great value! They'll be closing for lunch at the end of this month and can also be found in the entertainment book as repeat savings. I wasn't able to print my coupon out, and the waiter graciously said not to worry and to keep my original coupon so I could use it again. We'll definitely be back.

Decent but not outstanding

Had lunch here yesterday.....had eggplant dip and saganaki. Both were fine. For main course I had the lamb souvlaki. It was served with Greek salad (fine) on top of thick piece of pita and tsatsiki. The entire dish was then covered with french fries. I hadn't noticed that mentioned on the menu otherwise I would have had them leave it off. Lamb was very dry and chewy. By the time I got down to the pita it was very soggy. I would have liked the pita on the side and maybe a few fried potatoes instead of the French Fries. Service was okay. Could have a better choice of wine by the glass.

I've eaten here five times now since moving into the area. Mostly it has been for lunch, but once for a very late dinner. The food has always been very acceptable. The first time I had the Dublin Dash...it was fabulous. That day it was a crab rollup with avocado mayo. Awesome! Another time I tried the calamari which was fine but the tsatsiki could have used a bit more zip. Service was okay, but could be a bit more attentive. I liked the entertainment lineup....not just in the evenings. I'll go again.

Great Lunch
Submitted Sunday, August 26, 2007 - 6:46pm [Dine in]

I tried out the Transcontinental last Friday for lunch. Had their signature martini (with fig!) which was quite good but still prefer my cosmos. For lunch I had the crab croissant sandwich which was excellent....loaded with crab and avocado with a really tasty mayo. I opted for the fries which were fabulous (no trans fats). Only comment here was they didn't have regular white vinegar! I think their lunch menu could still use a bit of tweaking....after the lunch crowd there is a separate bar and patio menu which looked really interesting, but wasn't available at lunch. Service was also quick and professional.
