My husband and I went to the Red Door on Saturday around 7pm. We had no problem being seated but got a table right by the kitchen. There is no wall blocking the sound so we asked to be moved to the high top tables besides the bar. That was much better. We ordered the chicken satays as an appie and the singapore flat bread. The chicken satays were quite salty but the flatbread was awesome. We ordered the shaking beef, kung pao chicken and pad thai. The shaking beef was tender and tasty but the kung pao chicken and pad thai were way too salty to eat. We tried a few pieces but couldn't eat it as it was totally over salted. When one of the employees took our plate away she asked if we wanted those two dishes packed up as they were fairly untouched. We said they were salty, she apologized and took them away. But later our server came back and said they had been taken off the bill. We really appreciated this. I hope it was just a bad night for the Red Door and that this isn't their regular recipe. The service was very attentive though and the menu had lots of great items.
My husband and I went here for dinner and the food was fantastic! The interior is pretty neat especially when we heard about the inspiration for the wall etchings. We will definitley be going back. I was surprised to see some older bad reviews, perhaps the restaurant has picked things up. When we went in early October it was solid all the way through.
I first went to Society on a Stagette. I orderd a spiked milkshake which was very delicious. I also had poutine which was wayyy to salty to even enjoy. Others got macn cheese way to creamy and not enough flavour. Also the portoin was pretty small, especially considering the price. Service wasn't amazing and the drink selection wasn't too exciting except for the 2 drinks with cotton candy.
My husband and I decided to return for a date as the vibe of the restaurant insdie seemed cool and I didnt' want to judge it just on poutine and mac n cheese. I had the kobe beef lasagna and it was not good. My own lasagna is so much better. There was an overly strong cheese taste and nothing else really. My husband tasted it and didnt' even want to eat any of it even though he was stil a little hungry after his dish. He got the lobster pasta. Didnt' have much of a lobster taste and was too creamy and lacking in other flavours.
It seems to be a constant from our experiences and other reviews that the food isn't what it should be for the price and location. Vancouver has so many fabulous restaurants that I dont' understand how restaurants like this stay in business.
Although the resturanant has a nice look inside the music was so loud that we couldn't really hear each other talk across the table. Drinks were very slow to come and the service was subpar for the price.
All in all take your money elsewhere and you'll be happier. We also didnt' appreciate the few creepy and cocky servers.
My husband and I went to this place on the weekend for the first time. It was very enjoyable with a nice relaxing atmosphere. It is very small inside though. There was a good selection of meal crepes and dessert crepes. We would definietly recomend this place to others. I can't say the value was amazing but it wasn't overpriced either.
My husband and I checked this out on a Sunday night. Sat at the kitchen bar and had a great time. Warm ambiance was great on a cold rainy Vancouver evening. Tapas were good flavours good selection to choose from and good sizes. 3 was enough for the 2 of us and my husband was very hungry when we arrived. Service was great. Always someone taking away dirty places and the servers were helpful on picking dishes.
We will definitley come back!
My husband and I have see this place all the time but never guessed they would have good sushi. Stopped in there one night and the rolled sushi was awesome! Amazingly good prices too, 3 rolls and 1 cone for just under $20. Will definitely go back again. They also have all you can eat sushi but we didn't check that out.
My husband and I went here for brunch sat morning. We were seating at the last table when we arrived around 11 am. Food came quick and hot and was delicious. He ordered Cail Eggy's Benny and I ordered french toast with the berry compote. Would get both again! Service was very attentive. Decor was nice, nothing fancy though. Atmosphere was good also. May have found a new fav breakfast/brunch spot.
