We went there for dinner tonight. The food was very ordinary. If Kirin is a high-end restaurant, then I shudder to think what is average. Kirin does not live up to its reputation of fine chinese eating - the food was average at best. At almost $20 per dish, I had better elswhere for far less. The restaurant was busy and the service was bad.
The shocker today was that there was no free dessert - not even the obligatory red bean soup.. We had to order it - a serving of six was $12.50. I don't understand why I had to pay for it when the other restaurants all serve the house dessert for free.
Don't think we're heading back that way.

I go to Sun Sui Wah very often. Food is usually good, service - well, some days are good, others aren't.
Today was a different story. We ordered a lobster, and when the lobster was served, it was much smaller... never mind the size, it was missing a claw! We didn't realize it till half way through the dish. We called one of the guys in the black suit - they put on this "what happened to the claw" investigation. We know what happened - you switched my lobster...
So, to compensate us, he offered us a free mango pudding. There was silence at the table... an uncomfortable moment, he said Thank you and left. Later on we declined the mango pudding, had our standard "on the house" dessert, paid the bill and left no tip.
Besides the lobster incident, the rest of the dishes were not good too. The vegetable was overcooked. The pork with peking sauce was dry and tough... What a let down. We order the same dishes all the time, and today's quality was way below... I think the chef must be on vacation or they have some apprentice preparing the meal.. it was really really bad.
