FABULOUS! Vancouver's best kept secret!

FOOD: The quality and the flavour of all the dishes were amazing! The portions were large...especially for a french restaurant. Two people could share a salad or some of the appetizers. We just could not get over how FLAVOURFUL everything was! We sampled eachother's meals and appetizers and loved every one of them. For appetizers, I would recommend the "Salade de chevre chaud", "pate de campagne"," tarte flambee alsacienne". For main course I would recommend the "fille de beouf grille" or "portobello mushroom parmentier" (best mashed potatoes you'll EVER have!) For dessert, I had the lemon tarte which was a little to lemony for my liking, though still good. The creme brulee was apparently amazing, although I did not try it. The milk chocolate mousse was amazing...not too heavy, nice and light!

SERVICE: Good service, attentitive staff, they didn't leave us waiting forever for our food. No pretentious waiters here!

VALUE: Best value I've seen! No food item is over $19 and the portions are much larger than you would find in another french restaurant!

AMBIANCE: Nice ambiance, casual but still has a sense of formality. Not noisy.

OVERALL: We loved it and would go back again and again!

I've been here twice for work luncheons, and the food has been fabulous both times! I had the Provence Panini with goat cheese, pesto, sundried tomatoe & proscuitto and it was amazing! I sampled my co-workers wild mushroom ravioli and it was to DIE for!!! I (along with 2 other co-workers) ordered the mushroom ravioli the 2nd time we visited Provence and we savoured each bite...it was the BEST pasta, and possibly one of the best dishes I've ever had at a restaurant! The food was great, the service was great, it's quiet so you can talk without yelling across the table. I'm definitely a frugal person, but I would go back to Provence and pay the $16.00 for the mushroom ravioli in a heartbeat!

I went here based on reviews and a recommendation from a friend with the idea that the food and the atmosphere would be great but the service would suck. Boy, were they wrong! The food, the atmosphere AND the service was fantastic!

It was packed on a Thursday night at 6:45pm (we made a reservation, highly recommended) and our waitress was very attentive, speedy and our food came out really fast. She split our bills as requested and when my friend and I said we'd share the deep fried mars bar dessert (highly recommended) the waitress took it upon herself to split the 6.50 dessert as 3.25 on each of our bills....very thoughtful, no other restaurant has done that before. Very impressed.

The menu is huge, very inventive and has some funny names for the dishes. Even though I'm not a fan of japanese food or fish, the japanese and fish items I tried were good and they do have some non-japanese or non-fish options (butter chicken and captn' crunch roll was good!)

It's a very funky atmosphere...although you are close to other people I didn't feel too close. Good music, funky decor...awesome candle sticks (a red candle stick put into a Dad's rootbeer bottle...classy!) Definitely a popular joint amongst the college crowd.

All 4 of us were first timers and we all agreed that we would LOVE to come back to this unique joint again!
