Very nice but expect to pay...
Submitted Monday, March 15, 2010 - 2:03pm [Dine in]

Very nice restaurant with modern, clean decor. Host (Amy) were very accomodating with finding us a nice quiet table and I appreciated it.
The waiter(s) were very friendly had excellent knowledge of the dishes and wine ordered and were spot on with their suggestions.
My wife had the Seafood Paella with plenty of seafood on a bed of rice. It was good but not outstanding whereas I ordered the Duck with Gnocchi and Black Pepper Sauce. Great taste and filled me just right considering I was quite hungry that night. We did enjoy the entire meal, we just wish it was a little more affordable and it might become a more place for us.

Jules Casual French Bistro216 Abbott Street, Vancouver
NOt Bad, Not Great either
Submitted Sunday, February 8, 2009 - 12:26am [Dine in]

My wife and I felt like French this night and decided on Jules. First impression of restaurant was a fantastic French feel and is a great place to bring a date for that Romantic French dinner. Hostess was nice enough to find us a table for two, despite not having a reservation. Waitress was not warm or welcoming in any way and took our orders in an orderly, almost robotic way. I decided on the "Set Dinner" which consisted of Green Salad, Steak with Fries and a chocolate dessert. My wife ordered the French Onion Soup. The salad was very nice and the Walnuts with the Vinaigrette gave it a very unique taste. From there the meal went downhill. The Steak was a thin cut, gristly steak with way too much Peppercorn. Reminds me of the typical steak you receive at a Pub with an inexperienced chef using the Peppercorn to cover the lacking taste of a poor cut of meat. My wife's French Onion Soup had Onions that were not stewed long enough and therefore still hard. The Chocolate dessert was satisfactory. I don't want to come down too hard on this restaurant,as there is hope, but I believe that the Owner needs to review cooking habits of this chef in order to improve future Diners' experiences.

Doing things right.

I had read earlier reviews and with a bit of apprehension decided to try SaltLik only because it was convenient for my client. I must say that the restaurant must be reading the same reviews and are working hard to turn things around. The staff from the point of entering the restaurant right to the moment you walk out the door are doing all the right things. The young lady who served us (Mishka) was attentive, and ensured that every facet of our meals was done correctly. We even had the Manager (Shaunne Murray) come by our table to inquire about our experience. As for the food, it was cooked to perfection. My client ordered the Baja Shrimp appetizer while I had the Oysters on the half shell. The presentation and flavour of each was first-rate. For the mains we each ordered New York Peppercorn steaks with a Caesar Salad. The steaks were broiled to an exact Medium rare that we both asked for and were very savoury. The Caesar salad had a mild sprinkling of citrus juices which nicely offsets the strength of the garlic. Nice twist. The ambiance is chic and smart and would be a superb place for a date night. All in all the staff and management are putting forward a lot of effort to earn future business, and will in my case.

A nice Sunday Brunch
Submitted Monday, August 25, 2008 - 8:24pm [Dine in]

Beaches is a great place for Sunday Brunch as we had found out by chance. The buffet style brunch has a great variety of foods and healthy choices.Staff is young but courteous and attentive enough. Food is quite good. Have not tried for a dinner, but will give it a chance if it compares to quality of their brunch.

Excellent Dining Experience
Submitted Monday, August 25, 2008 - 8:13pm [Dine in]

My wife and I went to Season's for my 40th Birthday on a Saturday night. We chose Season's as we did not want to deal with the downtown traffic and parking situation and we are so glad we did. The staff is very experienced, courteous and have everything running smoothly. The food is cooked to perfection and compares with many great restaurants that I have eaten at throughout the world. A fantastic place to have a quiet romantic dinner or meeting a group of people. Restaurant is situated to allow most all patrons a great view of Downtown Vancover and North Shore mountains. Can not say enough good about this restaurant. They have a repeat customer in me.
