i have been here four times and the only thing that keeps me returning is the top notch food. on each of my four visits the service has been bad enough as to warrant my walking out. i am overly polite though and never do. also the food is good enough that i can over look the service. the first time i went i was sat and then essentially forgotten about or at the very least ignored. the servers sense of priority was clearly misplaced as i waited 15 minutes before having my drink order taken.. this is completely unacceptable in a place with less than 20 tables and more than 3 servers.. on another occasion we were put on a wait list and then watched as partons that came in after us were seated at the bar while they waited for a table whilst we marinated on our feet at the door. no one ever offered us a bar seat. would have been nice as we were all parched. the servers never write down orders and will forget items or be forced to come back and have us repeat our order. this happens everytime. usually once the service gets going its decent but the hicups that always start the experience are hard to shake off. this sentiment of bad service is common among some of my other taco loving friends. sooooo.... the food is quality. service needs an upgrade.

A friend recommended fiddlers courtyard to me. I had never heard of it before but my friend raved about the menu so I decided to try it out. Glad I did. It's rare to find this kind of quality in a pub atmosphere. I was with my friend Jeremy and we both had an appetite so we started with the deep fried bacon wrapped pickles. Coated with house made cornbread and served with a chipotle mango dip.....wow. My only regret is that now I have constant cravings for this holy union of goodness. Seriously..... Try them. We also got the appy ribs which were fresher and more tender than your regular run of the mill pub staple dry ribs. For the mains Jeremy went with a steak sandwich which was on special for 7.99 and he had nothing but good things to say about it. I will have to take him at his word as he selfishly devoured it without offering a bite. I went with the shepards pie. This was quality. The mash potatoes were clearly fresh as there was none of that browned and old tasting hard outter layer I had become accustomed too at other pubs. The meat was nicely seasoned and it came with mixed greens without a hint of wilt. It was a big portion too so I took half home and enjoyed it later. Jeremy got none of it. The new owner (Ryan) stopped to by to chat for a bit. Nice young man. I would recommend this pub to anyone. It's rare to find a pub that has such a quality focused menu. What a gem.
