Great way to celebrate a special occasion

The service: incredibly attentive. The beer menu: wonderfully varied and exciting. The food presentation: makes you feel like you are making millions of dollars to be able to eat out here. The food itself: DIVINE, to die for.
Our dinner was really good. We started using "jewish couscous" in our food at home (inspiring) and spent months seraching for king bolet mushrooms. The mushrooms, although a side in a dish, were as good as steak. Just make reservations ahead of time, well ahead of time.

Need a good, quick lunch while in the area?
Submitted Sunday, January 17, 2010 - 6:56pm [Dine in]

Sure, it feels a bit like fancy cafeteria when inside. Sure, the menu is basic. But the service is quick and efficient. Tables are always clean when I'm seated. And the basics (cashew chicken, green curry, etc) are solid. Fabulous pricing, too. Just right for a quick lunch when running errands in the area.

Intimate setting, looked promising
Submitted Sunday, January 17, 2010 - 6:47pm [Dine in]

I recently visited this relatively new spot in Vancouver. I was quite excited at first: a small, intimate setting, not too loud or bright. The waitress was nice (although did not prove particularly attentive).
The appetizer we had was buffalo sausage in tomato sauce. Really, really disappointing: sharp flavour, a heavy gross feeling left in your stomach after.
For dinner, my partner had a german roast type dish, which was nice, nothing special but well done.
My dinner choice: lobster BLT sandwich. WOW WOW WOW! Amazing combination of flavours. Lobster, lemon, avocado, tomato, bacon, etc. I will definitely return for it.

Want good roast lamb?
Submitted Sunday, January 17, 2010 - 6:40pm [Dine in]

Although the other 2 reviews seem quite negative, I must say this is not the experience I have ever had at Kefi, having been there quite a few times.
First of all, the shared greek salad - in true greek style although when I went to Greece they didn't give us small plates, we just snacked out of the communal bowl. I think this is one of the only places in Vancouver where I've had greek salad made with OLIVE OIL, not some premade, often canola oil based "greek dressing". Or with a chewable amount of feta cheese.
Main course: I would argue this is the best roast lamb in the lower mainland - it's definitely worth the wait - big portion though so bring your appetite.
I've also had a few things that were on seasonal sheets (great pasticcio among other things). Really though, you should be be having the roast lamb.
For dessert, ask for ekmek (spelling?). Light and tasty.
And after dessert, it's nice to be somewhere where they don't just bring the bill the instant you place the last bite in your mouth, and then stare at you until you pack up and leave. Great ambiance, nice non-kitschy greek decor, and easy going greek love of food evident.
