Just really bad experience overall. There were 4 or 5 women at the front, all looking bored and non-friendly..no hi how are you, welcome, nothing.
The waitress looked like she was having a really bad day and not once looked happy smiled or even cared we existed. Food came fast but not cooked properly and I will not go again. They only get customers for the name and view and if you're ok with that, go for it. Don't go if you're looking for a hot fresh meal with a smile. Ugh. So disappointing :-(

If the waiter were fired, we would go back. He is the worst and only waiter in a restaurant that has a few dozen tables. He would rather chat with his boyfriend/buddies at the bar than pay attention to a paying customer. Hey, and I tip well - he missed the boat.
After being recommended we decided to give it a try. The menu sounded appetizing, butter chicken, thai beef salad, coconut yam soup, etc. All was good until I had a long black hair in my dinner. After waiting for what seemed a long time, I mentioned it to the waiter and he seemed fairly non chalant about it. No apology or 'hey, that's too bad, let me make this up to you' or 'can I get you something else?'...nothing. What a huge disappointment. The food would have been great without the unhygenic little follicle...pity.

Best Pupusas - try it out
Submitted Wednesday, August 30, 2006 - 11:37pm [Dine in]

This a great authentic family run restaurant. Having walked by several times and noticing it was always busy, we decided to try it out. We had not tried this cusine before and we asked the table next to us what to try. They recommended the pupusas, a corn flour based flattened pancake (kinda) filled with meat, beans, cheese a a mixture of all. It was made by hand by the wife of the owner and were made to order. When they arrived - we were not sure what to expect. Wow, what a great discovery! It was comfort food at it's best. It arrived hot off the grill (careful, we meant hot) and was oozing with cheese, a mixture of beans and shredded pork. Hey, it doesn't sounds as good as it tastes. It's better. It comes with a salvadorean coleslaw, it's has more vinegar and heat, and with a tomato dipping sauce. All for $2.50. Yes, you heard it right. Only $2.50 per pupusa, a great deal for a handmade authentic food. I can usually eat two and if I want to feel stuffed to the gills, three. I am now a faithful regular. I have also tried their sopa de tortilla, beef tacos and their fresh mango juices. All superior. The ambience is a little too...lacking but the food and the price make it up. Be prepared during busy times to wait for a pupusa, as they are all handmade, when it's busy you can sometimes wait for 20 minutes or so but they usually will forewarn you. The father and son run the service and I've always found them to be polite and fairly quick. I think because it is family owned, they take pride in the place, it's always very clean (if simple). I have taken quite a few friends now and they all were conservative on the cuisine but all ended up very pleasantly surprised. This is not a dressy place, just a place to go with friends to have a great meal for an excellent price.

BEWARE - cooties

Thank you to the other reviews, yes they not only need food safety but a license for an adult to serve liquor, not the owner's children. I too have noticed that they do not wash their hands. One of the owner's daughters, a teenager, usually found asleep at the bar, was practicing making sushi - then rang in a bill for a customer and went back to finishing the sushi...WITHOUT washing her hands. Ick! I also recommend you do not use their washrooms. I went in and one of the servers had left a dirty used facecloth at the sink and a brush full of hair on the counter....

I am so glad they have arrived in Vancouver (finally!).
The first place we go when in Victoria is the Noodle Box.
Food is always made to order and comes piping hot and delish. I love their food! If you haven't been - GO, you will not be disappointed!
