Good value, pleasant place

Its either packed or vacant, and there doesn't seem to be much of a pattern to either. The food is excellent, the service (usually by the owner) is equally good. It has a kind of tawdry-funky ambiance which may not be to everyone's taste. No liquor license is a downside for those of us who like a beer with our mexican food.

Jekyll and Hyde....

I've been here about half a dozen times and have experienced everything from great food and service, to dismal food and service. If I've noticed a trend, they seem to be better in the evening, and I've found it a pleasant place for a low key evening. Lunch has been a more iffy experience, and the food is slightly over-priced, at least for the New West Market.

If you like sitting in someones lap.....

Another chain pancake house, with too big of a menu to do anything well. Food is edible but not outstanding, service is average, but the booths are small and cramped and it has a real "student cafeteria" feel.

Basic Boston Pizza Joint

Pretty standard Boston pizza chain food. Nothing special, but its not going to poison you either. Service is mediocre at best, but more normally indifferent to poor. An irritation to me is the insistance on having every single television in the place (and there are at least 15 of them) on the Canucks game if they're playing, no matter what other teams are on. On a recent visit when the Lions were on, and the World Series was also on, the staff refused to change a single television off the Canucks game. Since the corporate ads pitch the place as somewhere to watch sports, this strikes me as a little bizarre. I walked, went to the neighborhood pub, and enjoyed myself far more.
