Good food, bad service, nice atmosphere
Submitted Saturday, June 6, 2009 - 1:20am [Dine in]

Ate here on June 5, 2009, and while it seemed normal to have reservations, they seated us anyway which was nice.

My boyfriend ordered a chicken souvlaki for each of us, and we also ordered drinks as well. This chicken souvlaki was very tasty, but did not come with pita bread, which we thought was a bit unusual, though it did not take away from the meal.

The service on the other hand was a disaster. The only saving point, was our waitress' friendliness... Things that happened:

-My boyfriend's drink was incorrect; he ordered a Mediterranean. Waitress failed to clarify whether this was the Martini or Coffee version.
-When the food finally did arrive after about 40 mins of waiting, we first got someone else's order, and then we waited another 20 mins for our actual order.
-We ended up getting only ONE medium chicken souvlaki. Our waitress had thought my boyfriend had ordered only ONE for both of us to share.
-Even though it is supposed to be a heated patio, the heat lamp closest to us was not turned on. We asked twice for it to be turned on, but nobody ever did come to do so, in the 1hr30 mins we were there. So we ended up being very cold as it was windy in dusky evening.
-The bill we ended up with was incorrect, as we were being billed for an extra plate of large chicken souvlaki which we never ordered or got.
-When we pointed out the mistake, she almost tried to argue with us as she examined the bill.
-Bill correction and payment collection took an extra 15 mins.

The same waitress also when returning our credit card and reciept, went on to dump a tray full of 6 drinks onto a poor customer beside us. Broken glass everywhere, sopping wet customer, and flustered swearing waitress (At this point my boyfriend felt so sorry for her, he left a small tip despite the service).

In terms of value rating, it was overall more expensive than most Greek restaurants, with the medium chicken souvlaki at $16, and drinks at $9 each. Expect quality over quantity at this place.

The ambience was very nice as there was an excellent view of the beach and the sunset, however, it was quite cold due to the winds, and lack of heat. Dress in layers if you want to eat out in the evening!

We did end up getting a free salad out of the mix up in the beginning, and our waitress also brought us a dessert on the house. Don't recall the name, but it was the one with orange sponge cake with honey and whipped cream and it was quite delicious.

Overall, we believe we just caught this waitress on a very off night, and that otherwise the food was pretty good there.
