I work for a worldwide engineering firm with over 7000 employees. The local office has nearly 500 people. We book a lot of corporate and client dinners, including meetings that people come from around the world to attend. We are well known and not a group to annoy.
But sadly Coast has lost our business. I booked dinner for a relatively small group; 10 people, with people here from Montreal and Ontario. They had been looking forward to this reservation as they had heard about this restaurant. Everything was going fine until 2 hours after they got there they were asked to leave. Reservations were at 6:30 and were asked to leave at 8:30. No they were not rowdy, no they hadn't been obnoxious. Apparently dining at Coast you are given a time limit so they can fit new people in.
In the two hours my group had been there their bill was nearly $1000. Yes, I realize not a huge bill in Coast's world, but they weren't done. They were looking for a place to enjoy, hang out, and socialize in the great city of Vancouver. They were left with an incredibly bad taste in their mouths and have completely renounced all Coast affiliates; the whole Glowbal Collection.
I'm sorry, but you don't kick a group of people out; you do your best to accommodate everyone and if you have trouble squeezing people in then maybe you need to rethink how you take reservations. It is NOT the patrons' fault if you overbook yourselves!
Coast - I realize that you think you are super important, high end, and are above everyone else but that was completely unclassy. I will be spreading the word.
