i LOVE this place

FOOD: i think i've eaten at this location 4 times in the last 2 months; i've eaten at the richmond location twice in the last 2 months. i really love this restaurant. you always get great value. we were pleasantly surprised by the special they have going on: AYCE sashimi + angus beef for $22. how awesome is that??!

SERVICE: our waiter was extremely polite and was literally working his @$$ off; he was running to and from the kitchen, our tables, and the drinks counter. i actually felt sorry for him for busting his @$$ off the way he did. he was apologizing for forgetting things or for the kitchen being slow in giving us our sashimi. i don't know what the other 3 waitresses were doing b/c i never once saw them after i sat down. the service is always good at this location; the waitresses are friendly and quick to give us more order sheets, fill both the water and sauce pots, and topping up our glasses of water.

it sucks that parking is $2/hr but given that we don't ever have a time limit eating at this location, i'd rather be here than in the richmond location with free parking.

terrible service

i was very excited to eat at this restaurant; i've planned it for over 2 months. it marks the end of my steak tartare experience in vancouver. i knew the food wasn't going to be something i enjoy; i don't particularly like foods that i cannot pronounce. the food was good and we got a lot of lobster considering the price of seafood at western restaurants.
the service was absolutely terrible. first, they brought us the complimentary baguette with a plate of butter -- garnished by a dead fly! took us over 10 minutes to get this exchanged since nobody was paying attention to us. the waiter exchanged the plate of butter without an apology or even a word. then, he started making our beef tartare and disappeared for 10 minutes to serve another table some sorbet. after we finished the tartare, we looked around and realized the waiter forgot to give us the toast and sauce for the tartare.

then our sorbet arrived...half the quantity of what everybody else got and very melted....

entree took another 45 minutes to arrive....pretty cold in temperature, i might add. but they were very generous on the amount of seafood they gave.

then, we waited...and waited.......and waited for our waiter to come by with our bill.

needless to say, i feel the 12% tip i gave (of my customary 18%) should have been halved....just like the amount of sorbet we got.

i'm never eating at this restaurant again. instead, i'll joke about coming here again. for the prices, i'd rather eat at The William Tell.
