Great Place for Lunch
Submitted Tuesday, August 14, 2007 - 2:53pm [Dine in]

I work only 5 minutes from this place, and found them while looking for a soup and sandwich place. I went for the fish, as fish 'n chips are my favorite. They offered 3 pieces of fish and enough fries for two for ONLY $6.00 -- an excellent deal! The fish was your typical breaded type but was good tasting as were the fries. No "odd" smell. The person at the till didn't ask if I wanted something to drink, so when I went back with pop in hand I was worried if they'd sell it to me -- luckily no problem and NO extra charge for using debit for a purchase under $5.00!

The sitting area is spacious, tables are not crammed together. I really enjoyed it there and didn't really want to leave!

I'm only ever concerned with food handling. As they sell pork and other products that I can not eat I worry about how they handle the food (did they just touch pork then proceeded to handle the fish and fries or cut the lemon). Other than that, it was a great place and I'd go back.

Samosas are Great
Submitted Monday, July 30, 2007 - 4:37pm [Dine in]

My son was asking for samosas for days, but he loves the home-made type so I thought we'd give them a try. They are traditional East African type samosas (triangular with crisp pastry) filled with either beef or chicken (we ordered both). They were very good, and tasty -- a little spicy for my little one, but he managed to devour 4 or them.

We didn't try the rest of the food, but the samosas were great -- though a little overpriced.

Another Chicken Place
Submitted Monday, July 30, 2007 - 4:15pm [Dine in]

We love this place - if you are Muslim, then eating halal is a must and this is one of a few places that serve halal fried chicken. The food is good, but I feel VERY overpriced. I believe that there is a new owner, and they've jacked up the price by $1 to $2 on each and every item they sell. As it is Indian owned, the whole family always seems to be there... not the most comfortable. Also when we were there last, the owner is a smoker and was out smoking. Immediately afterwards he was inside on the till -- the smell of cigarette smoke was disgusting. It is a decent place, but I am hardpressed to give it anything higher than a "2".

Not a bad place...
Submitted Monday, July 30, 2007 - 4:09pm [Dine in]

I went to Pisces for lunch. The seating area is very clean, and well kept. I was also pleased that they did not have cheesy music playing (or any music/radio for that matter). I thought that the meal was a bit on the high side for 2 pieces cod (just above $11.00) -- they should have added more fries or a third piece of fish. More tartar sauce would have been great -- though they will give you extra. I didn't like the ketchup -- gross. It had an odd taste to it. Otherwise the place was good.
