The first day of school each year some friends and I have lunch at Horizons. We are all retired teachers.
Today the weather was beautiful and the view was absolutely gorgeous.
One person had the roasted chicken sandwich which she enjoyed very much. Another person ordered the ling cod which was also very good. The rest of us had the Classic Caesar with shrimp. I could not believe the huge amount of shrimp on my Caesar! We all agreed the salad was delicious. It was dressed perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning and parmesan cheese. No one left anything on the plate. Two people had the apple/rhubarb cobbler with sour cream ice-cream. They loved it. (There was some mention of licking the dishes clean so as not to miss a single morsel.)
Our server was very efficient, cheerful, and attentive but never intrusive. He kept our water glasses full and checked on how we were doing. He was a very nice young man and an excellent representative for this restaurant.
It was an excellent experience. Thank-you!

A friend and I met for lunch today at Mr. Mike's. We were seated immediately by a very pleasant young lady after being given several choices of where to sit. Our server was with us right away and took our drink orders and explained some new features on the menu. We both drank ice water all the way through lunch and never once had to ask for a refill--our server was on the ball and kept our glasses full.
We shared the crab/shrimp stuffed mushroom caps/garlic toast and they were absolutely delectable.
My friend ordered the chicken/roasted red pepper quesadilla with salad and I ordered the soup/sandwich/salad. We both thought the salad dressing was delicious and the salad fresh. My lunch partner really enjoyed her quesadilla as well. My sandwich of ham, Swiss cheese, and tomato on a piece of baguette was excellent and the garlic aioli was "to die for". The clam chowder was disappointing as it was hard to find any clam meat and there were far too many potatoes in it but I had enough food that I didn't really miss eating the soup.
The food and service were excellent and the prices are very reasonable.
I will recommend this restaurant to friends and I will certainly return for another meal.

The other day I had lunch here with a couple of friends. It was one of the few days we have seen sun this summer so we were able to sit on the lovely patio. My friends ordered beer and I asked for ice water with lime and a pitcher of water for the table. Our drinks arrived several minutes later and there was lemon instead of lime with my water. I requested lime again and the server said, "Of course and I'll be right back with your pitcher." About five minutes later she returned with a small piece of lime IN HER FINGERS not on a little plate. Who knows what she had touched during the wait time! By this time I had finished my glass of water and she again said she'd get the pitcher right away. It arrived several minutes later.
I ordered the chicken avacado club sandwich on marbled rye with salad. (Why do people who shy away from unhealthy fries have to pay more to substitute salad?) My friends ordered the salmon burger/salad and Greek wrap/fries. The food was excellent! Absolutely delicious!
Two of us ate only half our food and the server asked us if we wanted to take it with us and walked away without taking our plates. When she returned she brought containers and bags for US to pack up our own lunches! What's with that?!
At this point our plates and glasses were empty and we kept waiting for her to bring our bills. Finally I asked for our billS and awhile later she returned with one bill. When she observed us figuring out the bill she asked if it was okay all on one and I said I'd requested billS. Several minutes after that, we got our separate bills.
It was wonderful to be with friends and be able to eat delicious food outside on the patio but the poor service certainly detracted from the occasion. I will eat here again but I will not sit in this server's area.

A few weeks ago a friend and I tried out Burgers Etc. to see if we wanted to have our monthly lunch there with a larger group. We loved the food and the owner came and talked to us for quite a while about the history of the restaurant. We liked the place.
Today twelve of us went for lunch. We got there at 11:30 because there are no reservations and the place fills up very quickly with working people on their lunch hours. The service was excellent, our food came out all at the same time, and everyone really enjoyed their meals. We had a variety of items on the menu; chuck steak burgers, hamburgers, bbq chicken burgers, BLT, potato salad, coleslaw, beans and soup. I make many different soups at home and have never made, or had anywhere else, ANYTHING like the mushroom soup I ate today. It was beyond excellent!
Once things calmed down a bit, Calvin came over and sat with us for a few minutes and just chatted.
It's a very welcoming place where you can feel right at home. Excellent value! I will certainly go there again.

I met an old friend for lunch the other day. We had the half-turkey club with soup and salad. The food was very good and so was the service. The next time we're there we will ask for a booth away from the kitchen as it was too noisy where we sat and, coupled with the loud music, it was, at times, difficult to carry on a conversation.
We thought it was strange that after our salad, we had to keep our knife and fork rather than receiving clean ones for the next course.
Our next lunch will be at the same place. The menu is very extensive and there are many things on it we want to try.
I will also suggest East Side Mario's for lunch with other friends.

My favourite place to eat is at home. My favourite food to eat is my own cooking. Therefore, it is a rare occasion that I am happy with a meal at a restaurant. Last night was different.
We had dinner in celebration of my husband's birthday. Our reservation was for 6 p.m. and the whole time we were there no one else came into the dining room. A few were in the lounge. Because of this, there was not really any atmosphere.
We sat at a beautiful booth that had a gorgeous table.
I checked the menu on the internet to be sure there was something that appealed to me. When I opened the menu in the restaurant it was somewhat different from the one I had checked out. I was looking forward to the butternut squash soup. Not there. The waitress very kindly checked with the kitchen to see if the soup had been made for a banquet booking but it had not.
The crab cake was excellent--first time I've had one in a restaurant that totally impressed me. Delicious.
I ordered the prawns/scallops/basmati rice with a grapefruit juice glaze and my husband ordered the Angus steak. They were both delicious and beautifully presented. My serving was too much for me and I brought half of it home.
The wine was expensive--but that's the way it is.
I was disappointed when I opened my left-overs for lunch today to find them sitting on tin foil. The taste of food after it's been sitting on tin foil
is negatively affected--too bad.
All in all, it was a great dinner for both of us.
