Awesome Sushi Rolls
Submitted Thursday, December 31, 2009 - 10:41pm [Dine in]

If you are looking for some sushi rolls with nice flavor and pretty presentation without paying an arm and a leg, this is the place to go in Surrey. My favorite A la carte sushi place. The ingredients are fresh and the staff is friendly. They can be pretty busy at times. They have periodic draws for customers. The top prize for the most recent draw is a TV. My friend won a bottle of red wine and a pair of wine glasses. I don't know any other restaurant that does this. Try it, you won't regret it.

Lovely ambiance and Free Pitcher
Submitted Thursday, May 14, 2009 - 1:13am [Dine in]

Sushi Mori is a very nice little Japanese restaurant. It's got sakura trees (not the real ones of course) inside the restaurant. Twice we went there, we ordered Deep fried California Roll and Spider Roll. Both are 4.50. Very decent price. We also ordered the Seafood Nabe which has incredible soup base and a variety of seafood. The salmon in the Nabe is cooked perfectly. The first time we went there, we had half-priced pitcher. And the manager (or the owner) gave us half a pitcher for free. :D The second time they didn't charge us for the pitcher at all..LOL.. This place is worth trying!!

Guu with Garlic1698 Robson St, Vancouver
Overrated
Submitted Monday, February 16, 2009 - 10:02pm [Dine in]

I've always wanted to try Guu w/ Garlic, but hated the wait. Luckily, I was in the area just 10 mins before it opens. I went in with high expectations for food.

The service was prompt. We have no problem communicating with waitresses. We ordered grilled beef tongue, chorizo and bacon potato gratin, potato croquette, snow crab with 3 dipping sauce. We waited 20 min for our first dish and 40 mins for our second dish. But that was okay because we were chatting.

I find the gratin to be on the salty side. And it tastes very very oily, almost too rich. It made my stomach really uncomfortable the whole night. Beef tongue was done right with a hint of charcoal (which I loved). There were proabably 20 pieces, each 0.5cm think. The portion was very disappointing. Potato croquette was just average. The snow crab....3 legs and 1/5 of the crab itself, cost me 12. The sauce wasn't even that special ( mayo with masago, soy sauce with real wasabi, lemon juice). Crab meat tastes bland. The crab dish is definitely overpriced.

When we got our bill, we found 2 extra dishes that we didn't order. They were sashimis. My frd doens't eat raw meat. It took them another 20 min to take care of that.

We didn't order any drinks because we had to drive that night. The food was at best average. What's with all the hype???

Not the best prime rib
Submitted Monday, February 16, 2009 - 9:44pm [Dine in]

I've been to the Langley Keg before and had wonderful experiences. The place was always packed with people. We went there at around 4pm Sunday afternoon. The place was pretty empty. We didn't order any appis or drinks because we just had lunch a couple hours before. It was the "prime rib" craving.

The service was prompt and courteous. Everything was going great until our prime ribs came. First, I ordered baked potatoes. I got mashed potatoes instead. The mashed potatoes had too much liquid in it that it's consistency is close to porridge. Then, my bf found that his prime rib was dry and tough. Mind you, we ordered medium rare. At first I thought he was just being picky. Then I found that mine had pink parts that seemed moist but actually tasted dry and tough. So, we asked our server to get my bf a new one.

The second one wasn't much better. Mine tasted very bland. The server checked on us. She offered to take care of our bill (we definitely wasn't expecting this!).

Probably the worst prime rib I've had at Keg's, but the best service!
