I won't be as over dramatic as the other reviews but this place is just SIMPLE thai food. I live in Yaletown and I go here as a last resort for good Thai food, if I can't make it over the bridge.

The place fits yaletown, very trendy yet super cramped. You can literally here every conversation in the room over the level changing music.

I am a retired sommelier who loves & enjoy great wine pairings. They have the one of the most immpressive wine lists I have ever seen. That being said I am afraid it is all a FRONT. None of the servers know any of the wines. Forget about even knowing how to pronounce Gewurztraminer ( which by the way is amazing with spicy curries). The first 2 bottles I ordered were " sold out" but I doubt they even had them. The third that was given to me was the wrong year that the server had already opened and spilled on the table cloth so we decided to just drink it because it already took her a very long time to find the bottle. Not one apology, just a smirk & a "i'll be right back". No manager... so theres no one to complain to. So I hope you have good patience when you come.Enough said about service.

Food came out nice and hot on some creative plates however they didn't fit on the table ! We had to transfer food the was already plated on to one plate so it could fit. If i wanted a pile of hot food all on one plate I would have gone to a buffet. Besdies that the food was very simple. I would at least say its better the the Thai House chains by a hair.

So if you happened to go be sure that you order a beer because they can't mess that up & make sure you ask for some condiments so you can fix some of the bland flavours.

I came on a Wednesday night so things were nice and quite when we got there. I was promptly greeted by the manager and given a nice window seat. Menu is a little overwhelming but hey it is a Thai restaurant. The servers here actually know great wine suggestions & pairings for the food so I was very impressed.

We started with some steamed mussels with this gourgeous spicy lemon broth and there sampler. This is perfect for two! You get chicken skewers which went well with the peanut sauce that I had to hang on to when the server cleared our plates lol because is was so good, these prawn wraps & amazing light calamari. I can't remember what else it came with but all the sauces were outstanding. How to judge a great Thai restaurant is by their sauces & the peanut there was a winner by far.

We only shared one main because we weren;t that hungry but we sure cleared the plate. We had this seafood medley with like 1/2 a lobster! Unreal & I think a bargain for what other places are selling a surf & turf for. The entree came with this sliced mango salad to compliment the fresh seafood. I haven't had this anywhere before, so now I know why my friend is a regular there.

I went in there with high expectations & they were surpassed. I couldn't help but looking over at other tables to see what they ordered because we only decided to share one. My mistake but will sure come back with a larger group that way we can order a whole bunch and just share.

Bottom line food was of high quality & the chef definatley knows what hes doing. Service was very attentive but yet not in your face. The atmosphere was sooo comfortable with the cool jazz playing in the background makes you wanna stay for awhile. I love the twist on the room and presentation on the food.

The only bad thing is that they gave me flashbacks of my trip to Bangkok last summer::sigh:: I want to go back!

I heard there are some big names in this rest. & that threw me off. I don't like eating at places where you need to be a sommelier just to enjoy the food & wine. If you agree then this is the place to be. Greeted by the floor manager & was very accomodating. NO RESO on a Sunday & still got in. I heard this was unlikey but anyways food was great. Sat near the ktichen so had a nice little show. wine menu is amazing. Overwhelming at first but will definately talk to the owner next time for I hear he is their wine geek there. Prime Rim is excellent Bone Marrow on the side for dessert for all you carnivores. For sure on my top five Rest. in Vancouver. ps fine dining service with casual home like feel if you know what I mean. A+ all around!
