Great experience
Submitted Monday, June 14, 2010 - 5:42pm [Dine in]

I went to the restaurant with my friends recently because we were craving some Korean BBQ. We ordered some marinated beef ribs which were incredibly delicious! Our waitress came over to check up on the BBQ often and helped us cook it and cut it up into small pieces. I loved how we didn't have to cook our own food!
The service was prompt and I was impressed, overall. The cheerful waitress (who was fluent in English, might I add) made our experience very enjoyable

Personally I would not pay that much money for the quality of food they serve. It was on the pricey for me for tapas (which were very small portions). They have some very creative dishes that were good.

We ordered a roll that apparently takes a long time. We waited until all the dishes came out and asked our waitress. She said she'll go and check. After checking she just told us that it takes a long time to make the roll but we explained to her that we waited an hour for it. She went back to check and apparently they're just finishing it up now.

Obviously they forgot about it but no apologies were made even though she clearly knew that we waited ONE HOUR for a roll! She gave us excuses each time but never an apology. We had to wait a while to ask for a bill because she never came around our table.

I really enjoyed the steak which had a smoky flavour to it. Although it was not seasoned perfectly with some parts being salty and some parts under seasoned, the meat itself was well cooked and juicy.

Salmon was a bit overcooked the risotto was undercooked. It was undercooked than al dente in my opinion. It was very grainy and crunchy. Although they gladly redid it, it was just slightly better than the first time.

But because I enjoyed the appetizers, steak and dessert, I will definitely go back for a good steak.

Our waitress was very friendly and attentive.

I had expected more from Cincin

I enjoyed the food but not so much that I would pay their regular price for it. It was pretty empty when I went which was a bit weird, because I had expected a busier restaurant.

Service was okay but could've been better. The server paid more attention to this table beside us which was a bit insulting. It seemed like they know each other but all customers should be treated fairly.

I really liked the ambiance. I wouldn't say the food was outstanding per se but definitely better than a 3.

Service, on the other hand.. was pretty bad. We were having a good time chatting but it would've been nice for our server to come around once in a while to check up on us, which did not happen. I would certainly go back to the restaurant if it weren't for the service.

kind of loud..

I agree with the other reviewers who commented this place is cramped and crowded..
the food was pretty good and I also enjoyed their desserts. Service was okay.. I had to wait for my waiter sometimes which was kind of annoying. It would've been much better if the ambiance was quieter and more intimate like other restaurants around the same price range

best bbq!

I always go here for some Korean BBQ. Their Galbi is the best one I've tasted so far. Very good quality meat.

If the grill gets burnt, they usually come and change it for you but not always. When the server was changing the grill, I noticed something and asked him what it was. They put charcoal underneath the grill to give the bbq a smoky flavour. Maybe that's why their bbq tastes so good!

One other menu I love is their stonepot rice! It takes a while for them to cook but it is well worth the wait! (at least for me and my friends). When i order a meal, I always change the rice to a stonepot one because it is chewier and tastier!

Anyways, service is pretty good when it isn't too busy. They come over and cut the bbq for us and fill up our cups. None of them have come and asked us how the food is or how we were but when I put my hand up they seems to come over quite promptly.

I love how the side dishes can be refilled. I love their potatoes and salad!

I had read so many great reviews so I decided to go instead of Guu. The place is more spacious, quieter and more modernly decorated than Guu.
I found this place to be a bit too pretentious for my liking. The food was decent but was more expensive than Guu.

review for takeout cakes
Submitted Sunday, January 13, 2008 - 7:17pm [Dine in]

Although I find their cheesecakes to be on the heavy side, I sometimes crave it.
I usually order fruit cheesecake, Devil's food (i LOVE this because i love marshmallow), black savannah cake (which i also LOOVVEE!!) and chocolate banana cream pie.
I've never had dessert at the place but it seems kind of dark and loud a lot of the times.
Service for taking cakes to go is pretty good.

great takeout dessert!

i LOVE THIS PLACE!
My favorites include toffee cake, zucotto, fruit tart, creme brulee, mango cheesecake, and tiramisu.
If my memory is correct, they didn't used to have any tables for people to eat in, so it is a pretty small place. It gets really busy and loud so I always take the desserts to go and eat at home.
Service is decent when you are taking things to go unless it is very busy. I've had some dessert at the store a couple of times and ordered some drinks as well. The smoothie I had was not very good and service was just okay.

Great place to take some dessert home!

very bad service
Submitted Sunday, January 13, 2008 - 7:03pm [Dine in]

It was our first time at Yuji's. Because of the good reviews here, I was hoping I would get a good experience of dining.
They had some very creative dishes that were very delicious.
However, the service was very poor. We were ignored by the servers a lot of the times when they chatted with their regular customers. I was very annoyed that we weren't getting not even a quarter of the attention the regular customers were getting.
Just because we were sitting by the window, kind of far from the other customers, shouldn't justify for this bad service as the restaurant was not busy at all.
Other than the bad service, the restaurant was decent.

love their omakase!
Submitted Sunday, January 13, 2008 - 6:57pm [Dine in]

I always go for their omakase. Omakase is a menu where the chef prepares several dishes with the freshest ingredients that day. You should notify them of any food allergies. Their special sushi's are one of the best I have ever tasted! Especially their hamachi. I order the $60 one and it includes dessert as well as about 5-6 courses. It is a lot of food for me usually. I recommend first comers to try the omakase menu! It's really worth the try.
The service is very good. You have individual tea pots and they are filled up with hot water often by the servers. They are very polite and friendly. They also explain the omakase dishes very well.
It's a very small restaurant, so I'd recommend reservations for weekends. Overall, very nice small restaurant to go for great omakase.

guu is one of my favortie restaurants
Submitted Sunday, January 13, 2008 - 6:48pm [Dine in]

I usually go to Guu with Garlic since one on Thurlow seems to get really busy and loud. I had read good reviews for this place so I decided to go with my friend who also loves Guu.
We sat at the bar because we hadn't made a reservation and ordered some food. I LOVED!!! the cocktails but the food wasn't as good as I had expected.
The service was .. BAD! very disappointing. Even though we were sitting right beside the cash register, nobody came to take our orders. We waited about 5-10 minutes for our waiter to come around. He asked if we were ready and we said yes. Waited couple of more minutes and just ordered with another waitress who was serving another floor.
I don't know why but our waiter rarely came to us. Never asked how the food was or asked if we need more drinks. He just occupied himself with bills, drinks and other things. The only reason i gave a 2 (decent) for service is because of the nice waitress who took our orders.
I really liked the ambiance but because of the service I don't think I'll go back anytime soon. Really wanted to like this restaurant.
