Just an Okay Place
Submitted Thursday, October 28, 2010 - 1:21pm [Dine in]

Nothing special or outstanding. Price was a little high for their buffet lunch. Needed more varieties.
Rice was at the far end of the buffet line away from the main sitting area. Only had four meat dishes. One was beef curry, one was lamb curry and two chicken dishes.

Poor Service
Submitted Sunday, October 24, 2010 - 3:01pm [Dine in]

When I went to this location there were only one other customer eating; as I approached the counter the lady in a blue striped shirt (I think she was a supervisor or a key holder) was standing infront of the till facing to her right talking to a guy in street clothes. I waited for her to ask me my order and finally five minutes later she faced me and asked for my order.

After I gave her my order and receiving my order I walked over to a table on the right side of the dining room. Two minutes later an employee started to vacuum the rug on the right side of the dining room. He kept vacuuming around my table and I didn't know why he couldn't have started on the left side of the dining room.
I rushed to eat my burger because the sound of the vacuum was giving me a headache.

As a customer I didn't feel welcome and felt rushed to leave so I won't be back to this location anymore.

Expensive Drinks
Submitted Sunday, September 12, 2010 - 6:49pm [Dine in]

During a cool rainy day I stopped at Brookyn's Pub for a coffee and baileys. When the server brought me the bill she had charged me $5.25 for the baileys and $1.67 for the coffee. The total for one drink was $7.00. If someone orders a coffee and baileys wouldn't the coffee be included in the price.

Guess I will be going somewhere else.

Scrapping the Bottom of the Container to Get All the Food Out
Submitted Sunday, September 12, 2010 - 6:38pm [Dine in]

This is my first time at this location. I usually go to another location but the South Common location is closer to my home.

I ordered the meat platter. One of my choices was the chicken. The man behind the counter started to scrap the bottom of the container that was in the steamtable. He then went to the warmer to get another container I'm guessing chicken. He replaced the new container with the old container that was in the steamtable. He then picked up the old container and started to scrap the old chicken from the bottom of the container with the ice cream scoop.

I was surprised he had done this infront of me. I wondered what he does when there are no customers looking. I was not hungry after seeing that.

If you have to scrap food that have been stucked to the bottom of the container you should throw it away and not have to serve it to paying customers.

I will not be coming back to this location again.

Employees Laughing at Customers
Submitted Friday, July 16, 2010 - 12:54pm [Dine in]

I used to go to Panda Hut Express since they offer specials. I would often go every week or every other week and usually in the evenings. During that time, there are usually three boys working there. As I walked into the restaurant, the three boys would giggle and say something to each other but I could not hear and maybe they were telling each other a joke or something. As I walked up to the counter, I usually order the same dish and as I did this time around, the one boy bursted out laughing and then turned to the other two boys and then they started to laugh as well.

Maybe they were laughing at my expense but What so funny about ordering a dish?. Are they laughing at me? I look like any other guy. Who cares if I always order the same dish everytime. It was just a noodle dish they offer on their menu.

As I walked away that evening, I decided to go somewhere else. There are alot of restaurants that offer that same noodle dish and with Panda Hut Express they charge for servers to serve you at your table prices and not mall prices. The food normally tastes like mall food anyways; food that taste like it is just sitting in the steamtable waiting for people to order.

Too many restaurants out there that would welcome my money without having staff laugh at me. Not making me feel welcome.

Swiss Chalet Rotisserie & Grill2203 99 Street, Edmonton
No Service
Submitted Wednesday, March 17, 2010 - 1:14pm [Dine in]

As I walked in to the Swiss Chalet in South Common at 11:30 am on a weekday there was no one at the desk so I waited. A lady came out and asked if someone had helped me yet and I said 'No' and I said table for one. She checked her map and said 'this way' and as I was following her to my table she stopped halfway and saw a lady with a young child sitting there and asked if someone had helped her and the lady said 'No'; the hostess then turned to me and said ' you can take a table in our lounge' and turned to the lady with the young child and said 'this way'.

If I wanted a table in the lounge then I would have just walked into the lounge. I figured at 11:30 am on a weekday it would not be busy yet so I wanted a table in the dining room.

The hostess should have said I will be right back to sit you after I sit this lady with the young child and I would have understood since she was here first. Or the hostess should have asked me if I didn't want to wait I could take a table in the lounge.

I just felt that the hostess didn't handle this situation as well as I would have liked her to so I turned around and just left and haven't been back to a Swiss Chalet.

Terrible Service
Submitted Tuesday, February 23, 2010 - 12:58pm [Dine in]

I was there one evening at 7:30 pm and when I walked in there was no one in the restaurant except for a couple sitting near the kitchen door eating. As I stood there waiting to be seated the young female from the table got up and approached me. I said table for one. She got a menu and walked away not saying anything so I followed her. As I sat down I asked for a pot of chinese tea. She came back shortly with the tea. She went back to the table to finish eating. After a few minutes she approached me but did not say anything to me so I told her what I wanted to eat. She then went back to the table to eat. When my order was ready she got up and brought it over to me. She never came back to check if my food okay or not. When I finished my meal I waited for her to clear my dish and bring me my bill. She got up from her table and started to clear all the dirty dishes from the other tables stacking the dirty dishes as she went from one table to the next. When she got to my table she stacked the pile of dirty dishes onto my dish infront of me and then carried the whole stack to the buspan. At this point she still did not say anything to me so I got up to the till and paid her.

As I was leaving I felt that she did not want to serve anyone else since she was eating her supper but the 'Open' sign was on and she did not say to me that they were closed or anything.

People eat out alot and quality of the food and service is esseintial to any business if you want repeat customers. At 7:30 pm there was no other customers but the female server seemed like she had enough business and just wanted to eat her supper.

I will not return to this restaurant because of the terrible service I received. Unfortunate for this business there are alot of other restaurants out there for me to spend my money.
