Great service

My husband and I had dinner here last night and I felt inclined to write a review because of the outstanding service we received. Not that the food wasn't impressive - this is our go-to place for solid Korean food. The octopus/beef hotpot is delicious and the Korean BBQ dishes are plentiful and good value. One thing to note though, we found that when the kitchen prepared the BBQ dish, as would be the case if you only ordered one BBQ item, the dish is not very tasty. Much better to order the minimum two BBQ dishes and cook it yourself.

However, the service really stood out for us last night. (It was a busy night - the restaurant was full, but there was no wait at the door.) We had to change our BBQ grills four times and for three of those times the waiter simply had walked by our table, noticed that the grills were becoming blackened, and made the switches for us without us even having to ask. When it was clear that we were almost done our dinner and there was no way we were going to be able to finish our japche, a takeout container and plastic bag was conveniently placed at the end of our table. Neither of us had even noticed when that was done. Anytime we needed anything (napkins, water, etc), our requests were fulfilled quite quickly. We didn't have a chance to ever use the bell.

Overall, definitely recommend this restaurant!

Appalling service

This was our first time to this restaurant. The rude service we received easily convinced us not to go back.

I arrived with one guest plus a baby. Right off the bat, we got bad vibes from the lady who was running the restaurant. She instructed us to sit at the table right at the entrance, which made no sense - the stroller would have blocked other patrons coming in. When we suggested moving to a table in a corner to stay out of people's way, the lady was very huffy but finally obliged.

When it came time to order food, the lady angrily said "that's it" when she thought our order was too small. I would have been a bit more understanding if the restaurant was very busy, but it was already after the lunch rush and there were plenty of empty spots! The food came fast but so did the bill. As noted by a previous reviewer, as soon as we paid, we were rushed out. At no time did we feel like 'valued' customers at this place.

While the food was decent compared to other pho restaurants, the bad service left a very poor taste in our mouths. There are so many good pho restaurants to choose from in Vancouver and in Richmond; there's simply no need for us to have to put up with this kind of rude attitude again.
