s l o w service
Submitted Friday, May 22, 2009 - 12:23am [Dine in]

We've been here a couple of times, hoping the next visit would be better. The first time, we got our food late, but that was understandable as it was quite busy. This time, the restaurant wasn't so busy. Everything from getting are drink orders to getting our bill took forever. Our waitress...she tried to bring everything with other orders from other tables...to be efficient. Being efficient is good, but it almost appeared that she waited to bring our drinks, salad dressing, food, bill, etc. until she had to bring something else to her other tables. So, we got our drinks late. She forgot our salad dressing, but by the time she finally brought our dressing (along with another tables drink order), we already finished our burgers. Same with our refills...with another order. Weird.
I really enjoy Whitespot but I don't think we'll be going to this location again. But I should support our local community.

French food that won't burn a hole in your pocket!
Submitted Saturday, May 16, 2009 - 1:55pm [Dine in]

I used to think French food comes in tiny portions while it burns a hole in your pocket. Not this place! I've been here 3 times. One for dinner, another for brunch and the most recent for dessert. Their portions are generous and fairly priced. I had my first taste of "Lapin confit" (rabbit) and it was excellent! I aslo had a tourtiere for brunch and it was also good. It's nice to have a different option other than your usual eggs and pancakes for brunch. Desserts never failed to impress. I'm not sure what my favorite is ..since it was all so good! We did order the assortment of desserts and that's a good option if you can't decide which one you really want. I'm glad my friend introduced me to this little place. Will definitely keep coming back!

Awesome food, my friend!

Who wouldn't keep on coming back to this Vietnamese food joint? I just wanted to add to all the rave reviews this restaurant gets. Who would have thought you can actually get good, friendly service at a Vietnamese restaurant? That's why we keep coming back to this humble place. The owner is just so entertaining! The combo dishes are a great value and the pho is good! Gotta try their vietnamese coffee as well! YUM!!!!

King Size Sushi
Submitted Saturday, May 16, 2009 - 12:57pm [Dine in]

The name says it all ! Their sushi are really king size! It's a great bang for your buck. The sashimi quality is not the best, but it's not the worse either - but they're huge! The rolls are the best value. A half order of their ginormous house roll is more than enough for lunch and it's only $5.50! Their rolls are big and it's not only because it's stuffed with mostly rice. They actually stuff it with a lot of the good stuff! That's why we keep coming back!

Best chinese lunch deal!
Submitted Saturday, September 13, 2008 - 2:25pm [Dine in]

I first tried this restaurant when I was working around this area. The lunch deals were great and the portions are generous! It wasn't hard to get my co-workers and family hooked on it too. The lunch deals were not only good during weekdays, but also on weekends! We had a party here once and the manager was very accommodating! The dinner menu is just as god. Best thing is, it's one Chinese restaurant that doesn't have MSG! It's so good to find a place that I can bring people who are allergic to MSG and still able to enjoy Chinese food.

Good breakfast place

Good waffles! Not keen on waffles? They have so much other selections to choose from!
I've been here a few times and never disappointed. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, anytime I feel like having breakfast food, I know where to go! They have sandwiches , burgers and other dinner selections. One of my favorite places to go in New Westminster!

Gotta Try the Creme Brulee Cheesecake
Submitted Monday, October 22, 2007 - 1:15am [Dine in]

I just love the Creme Brulee Cheesecake! It's one of a kind and just divine! I've tried some of their dinners. A bit pricey but quality and taste was not too bad. The shared plates are a great concept, you get to try a bit of everything. The ambiance, was very nice. Sometimes there's live music which showcases a lot of local talents. It is a little gem in New West!

Rude Service, Poor Food, Bad Management
Submitted Monday, October 22, 2007 - 1:02am [Dine in]

I went to this restaurant a few weeks ago. The place was very nice and the prices were on the expensive side. But we wouldn't mind paying the price if the food was of excellent quality...but it didn't turn out that way! The service was very bad, it took almost an hour to get our orders. In the meantime, servers didn't acknowledge us, letting us know that it will be a couple more minutes wait. When the food came, they weren't apologetic at all. The yam fries were toasted black, the salad was wilted and portions were small. For the price that we were paying, we would expect a better taste, presentation and portion. We were so unhappy with the food and service, we decided to tell the manager, which turned out even more disappointing! The manager had a lame excuse that they had over 200 guest come in the last 2 hours. (Which was not the case). He said they were so busy, the kitchen couldn't handle it. And he said it was their mistake because they should have just closed the restaurant down if they couldn't handle the volume of customers. What kind of management is that? Manager did not even apologize to us.
So we do not recomment this place at all.

Great Izakaya Food!
Submitted Monday, October 22, 2007 - 12:48am [Dine in]

I've been to this restaurant a couple of times and I keep wanting to bring more of my friends here! The portions are generous, compared to other izakaya places. Good quality food for your dollar! (Especially the rice bowls) My faves are the duck yakisoba, the crispy squid and the seafood curry rice bowl! I just wished they have another branch closer to where I live!
