Definitely worth a try
Submitted Sunday, March 8, 2009 - 1:37am [Dine in]

Food: I had the negitoro don(fatty tuna on rice). While the texture was good, the flavour was lacking. I wished I had some of the meals my friends had (the curry looked really good).

Service: The waitress were very friendly, they forgot my kimchi, but brought it promptly when reminded.

Value: Considering it's downtown, it was decent value.

Ambiance: Cute little cafe.

Definitely recommended!

Tacky decor and raw food
Submitted Friday, March 6, 2009 - 11:17pm [Dine in]

Food: Starchy uncooked clumpy noodles, swimming in sesame sauce, decorated with thinly sliced cucumbers and old tofu.

Service: They don't know how to count. There was one server for the entire restaurant. They gave us two glasses of water for four people, then two pairs of chopsticks. The food (keep in mind it's just simple noodles) took 30 minutes to come. I specifically requested cold noodles, but received lukewarm noodles.

Value: At 7.99$, I was not even full!! The portions seem large, but it's actually just because it's swimming in sauce.

Ambiance: The tacky coloured lights did nothing to improve the situation.

They gave me the wrong thing...
Submitted Sunday, January 4, 2009 - 9:57pm [Dine in]

Food: The minced beef friend rice was alright. The century egg pastry however, was really gross and there was only a TINY piece of century egg in it. Nothing special.

Service: Once again, nothing special. They gave me a wrong item (from the bakery) so they lose points for that.

Value: Reasonable.

Ambiance: Clean.

I will probably return.

It keeps getting worse..
Submitted Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 5:23pm [Dine in]

Food: They don't bother shredding the imitation crab meat in your california rolls like most restaurants do- this just shows how much effort they put into preparing your food. With the beef teriyaki is just old, dry beef with teriyaki sauce poured on top.

Service: I really hate it when restaurants don't give you your change back and expect that you're giving it to them for tips. This time, I even ASKED for my change, and I had to ask two more times before it came. Needless to say, they weren't left with much of a tip. The service was pretty terrible to begin with, but it keeps on deteriorating.

Value: The prices are decent, but if the food isn't good then the value isn't there!

Ambiance: It's somewhat clean...

AVOID THIS PLACE! It's the most 'un-authentic' a Japanese restaurant can possibly get!!!

Good cheap eats, not so good service
Submitted Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 5:17pm [Dine in]

Food: I love the spaghetti bolognaise! The food portions are very good, and most meal options come with a drink. The drink selections are plentiful as well!

Service: A hit or miss. They can be really moody and impatient sometimes.

Value: Good, cheap eats!

Ambiance: Clean.

I will return!

Great value for lunch
Submitted Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 5:13pm [Dine in]

Food: The food was quite fresh and quite delicious. The oyster motoyaki actually had big oysters in there! The chopped scallop roll is delish! The kimchi is always a must-try! The ebi sunomono not so much..

Service: Quick and friendly service.

Value: Don't order the 'best value lunch', always order the regular lunch menu, which is $11.95, just $2 more. You get a LOT more variety this way (nigiri sushi, oyster motoyaki, ebi sunomono, etc.)

Ambiance: This restaurant is very clean and well kept.

I will DEFINITELY return for lunch! Dinner is a LOT more expensive (double the price almost) so I will probably only come here for lunch.

a LOT Better than Milestones
Submitted Sunday, December 28, 2008 - 5:09pm [Dine in]

Food: We had the spinach dip, which was AMAZING. The burger was good as well, a lot better than the White Spot ones.

Service: We were seated promptly and the service was really really good. The servers were very attentive.

Value: It's not cheap, but it's around the same price as Milestones and this is WAY better!

Ambiance: The interior is nice, but we had a window seat that overlooked the parking lot. Not so nice, but it can't be helped.

I will DEFINITELY return! This place is great for dates! =)

It's alright
Submitted Saturday, December 27, 2008 - 8:05pm [Dine in]

Food: Typical Korean dishes.

Service: Waitresses weren't rude, just very rushed and a bit disorganized.

Value: We chose the 5 items for $20 package. Portions were a bit on the small size even for this price.

Ambiance: This place is generally nicely decorated, but the vending maching in the restaurant looks REALLY tacky for the amount of effort they've put into decorating the restaurant. They need to turn the heat up- it was really chilly.

Overall? I'll probably return- the complimentary dishes were really delish.

Food quality/value not there
Submitted Thursday, December 25, 2008 - 5:02pm [Dine in]

Food: I remember going to this restaurant a few years ago and enjoying it quite a bit. The food this time was just horrendous. Very cheap ingredients in the fried rice- what kind of good chinese restaurant puts weiners in their friend rice?? The deep fried chicken knuckle was equally as bad- VERY bland/

Service: The service was efficient, hence the '2' rating. The waitresses never smile, they never say thank you, and they are always in a rush even though the restaurant was just half full!

Value: For over $7, the portions were extremely tiny, a child couldn't even have been full eating that! Not that I would want anymore of it though, the food was awful.

Ambiance: Average.

I will not return! Not recommended!!!

Nothing spectacular
Submitted Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 10:52pm [Dine in]

Food: I ordered the spaghetti + ox tongue. There were two VERY VERY thing slices of ox tongue on a very tiny bowl of baked spaghetti. There was also definitely not enough sauce, and I had to ask for more. The sauce had frozen vegetables in it, like the kind you buy in bulk from Superstore...

Service: When the waitress gave us plates, she put them down and then quickly picked them up again, claiming 'these aren't decent'. Why don't you check the plates for cleanliness before giving them to a customer? As well, the waitress asked us to pass her the box of sugar/pepper/salt so she could refill it. It wasn't as if it was empty or anything- there was no urgency, so why couldn't she wait until we had left before refilling it? Somebody needs to take a Superhost course!!

Value: As mentioned above, not good. Maybe it was just what I ordered, my dining companions appeared to have a lot more substance in their meals.

Ambiance: Very clean, nicely renovated place. The washroom sink is very pretty!

Will I return? Maybe it was just a fluke and they didn't do that well on my dish, I'll probably return once more and order something else. Hopefully the service improves by then!

Great option in Whistler
Submitted Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 10:43pm [Dine in]

Food: For this price, the food was alright. I had the baked tortellini, and it was a bit on the dry side, but the delicious ice cream at the end of the meal made up for it. The calamari's really good as an appetizer (though it's a bit on the small size and is quite expensive compared to the rest of the meal). Also, I would not recommend upgrading your soup to a clam chowder, it's definitely not worth the $2.25. I really liked the loaf of bread at the beginning =)

Service: Very efficient service, considering there were a lot of people in the restaurant. The servers were quite friendly, though it seemed a bit generic (but what do you expect in a restaurant like this?). No complaints here!

Value: Definitely the main reason why people come here! The portions aren't huge (the soup was actually only a few bitefuls), but if you're not completely starving, the meal is decent.

Ambiance: I loved the atmosphere! It had that nice old rustic look (there was an old fashioned bicycle hanging from the ceiling!). I had no problems with how sanitary the restaurant was- everything was very clean.

I will definitely return here if I'm visiting Whistler next time! Be sure to arrive a bit earlier (5pm?) because this place fills up very quickly!

Food: I haven't eaten a lot of Indian food, so I don't really have anything to compare it with. The food is generally very spicy, and there are lots of variety...mostly sauces though. There were lots of Indian people there, so that's always a good sign in an Indian Restaurant

Service: Friendly service, the waiter kept on explaining how to eat each type of food (''dip this in that'', etc.) Very prompt.

Value: About $10 /person for lunch. Keep in mind it's vegetarian food though...

Ambiance: Very clean.

Food: DELICIOUS sandwiches...made fresh on the spot!

Service: The sandwiches were made in a short period of time, and we were served really quickly.

Value: REALLY cheap

Ambiance: Really really run down..I wouldn't want to eat in there...I also worry about the refridgeration of the food (ingredients that are put into the sandwiches)...doesn't look quite that sanitary

Higher prices, smaller portions
Submitted Saturday, August 9, 2008 - 1:37pm [Dine in]

I went back here a few weeks ago..and everything has changed!

Food: Smaller portions...the quality has noticably decreased as well!

Service: The service is alright..

Value: With the increased prices and the MUCH smaller portions, I wasn't surprised to see that there were so many empty seats in this once filled and busy restaurant.

Ambiance: Nothing special here

Submitted Saturday, August 2, 2008 - 1:51pm [Dine in]

Food: The food reminds me a little of White Spot, but the quality here is MUCH better. Yummy fries! The appetizers are HUGE, so just order one between two people..or you'll have trouble finishing your entree! (Order the artichoke/feta/spinach dip..it's delish!)

Service: Wow. I wasn't expecting such great service! Our waitress was very friendly and efficient, making sure that our drinks were full at all times!

Value: A bit on the pricey side, but not unexpected.

Ambiance: Very comfy chairs, spacious setting...I love it!

Submitted Thursday, July 31, 2008 - 8:16pm [Dine in]

Service: Appalling. We waited for about half an hour after the waitress took our order. After that time, the SAME waitress came back and asked if our order had been taken! It turns out she had forgot to place our order! Talk about serious short term memory! When we called for the bill, however, it arrived very quickly.

Food: I was really hoping the food would be good, after experiencing the terrible service. Sadly, everything was incredibly bland, and the portions were very small.

Value: Everything is terribly overpriced for the portion/quality of food. They tried to rip us off by putting only half the amount of rice in those rice buckets!!!

Ambiance: The place is very small, with only about ten tables...we were seated next to the door, it was cold!

I will NEVER return...never!!! A very upsetting experience!

Food:
Salad Roll: Really really really dry..it has to be one of the worse ones I've ever tasted. Utterly forgettable
Durian Shake: Highlight of my mean...made with real durian! DELICIOUS.

Service: Food was served in a quick and efficient manner..we had to ask for water twice, but overall, service was decent.

Value: Though not expensive, it was on the pricey side, considering that the location wasn't the best.

Ambiance: Old decor...not the nicest location in Vancouver

Will return ONLY for the durian shake!

Submitted Sunday, July 20, 2008 - 8:37pm [Dine in]

Food: Between me and my mom, we ordered a roll combo, a chopped scallop roll and a fried tuna/salmon appetizer. The appetizer (it was the most $ of the 3) was a new experience..very unique. All the dishes were presented very nicely. The chopped scallop roll (8 pieces) were cut into nice bite-sized rolls..very delicious. The roll combo included dynamite roll, california roll, as well as tuna/salmon roll. The california roll was not unique...I was expecting a bit more.

Service: We were greeted quickly at the door, and the waitresses were very nice. Food arrived in a timely manner. My only complaint would be that I do not enjoy the waitresses hovering in a corner, waiting to take away your dish right after the last piece is gone.

Value: The prices were alright...more expensive than 'casual' dining, but not quite priced as 'fine dining'.

Ambiance: This category is where Sai Z loses points. The building is very very old, and the entrance door looked like a door to the kitchen. We were unsure of whether that was the main entrance or not. The tables inside were placed WAY too close to each other...my elbow was almost touching the person of the next table. I liked the piano-guitar duo...but the the (electric) guitar was way too loud...it was very difficult to listen to what my dining companion was talking about.

Despite the poor ambiance, I think this restaurant is definitely worth a try and I do intend on returning!

Horrible wait
Submitted Friday, July 18, 2008 - 6:46pm [Dine in]

I went there at lunch time today, and the place wasn't crowded, but it took a LONG time to get food. The entire duration of the meal was over two hours. I ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken, and half an hour into waiting, they told me and said they were out of it! They asked if I wanted Teriyaki Chicken instead...being really hungry, I agreed. The meal came out in less than two minutes, and the rice was cold. Suspicious..

Value: $7 for REALLY small portions..not worth it. 4.5$ for a bubbletea smoothie..it was good, but a bit on the pricey side.

Submitted Saturday, April 26, 2008 - 10:53pm [Dine in]

Food: better than most HK style cafes you find in Vancouver...they even have bubble tea!

Service: Decent most of the time...they can be a bit friendlier. Only problem I went there once and the waiters were playing mahjong? The place was actually closed...but we didn't know because the front door was open. They just stared at us without saying anything! Very rude.

Ambiance: A bustling small restaurant in a very very quiet neighbourhood. The place seems to be clean.
